Tofino isn't all sunshine & rainbows, and that's exactly why we love it.

The frequent fog and moody skies are all part of what makes this coast so special. There’s something about paddling through a quiet, misty morning that you just can't replicate on a blue bird day.

At Paddle West, the weather doesn’t take away from the experience - it is the experience!

Did you know that some of the best beaches in Clayoquot Sound are only accessible by boat?

When paddling, you experience the coast from a whole new perspective - no parking lots, no crowds, just you, the ocean, and quiet stretches of sand waiting to be explored.

Food always ends up being a highlight of our multi-day trips.

How could it not be, with views like this?

Bioluminescent night tours are BACK at Paddle West Kayaking - but they’re selling out fast! All August dates are now fully booked with only limited space in September.

Experience the glowing bioluminescence, brilliant night skies away from the lights of town, and sip on Chocolate Tofino Hot Chocolate Elixir under the stars ✨

Scenes from Vargas Island.

Dick & Jane's Beach is one of the best spots on the west coast for sunset, and, is one of our most common camp sites on our multi-day expeditions!

In Tofino & Ucluelet, you never know what wildlife you'll encounter next.

Harbour seals are among our most frequent companions on the water. Curious by nature, they'll often surface nearby to sneak a look before disappearing beneath the water's surface just as quietly as they arrived 🦭

!! Trip report !!

📍 5-Day Hot Springs Cove Expedition
📅 July 23–27
🛶 Guides: Andy & Ben

En route to Hot Springs Cove, the group made the call to head out from Vargas Island, and paddle the outside of Flores Island, making for a trip they'll be dreaming about for a long time!

Highlights included being surrounded by grey whales (including calves!), listening to the blows from just offshore, watching sea otter rafts drift by, spotting humpbacks on the horizon, and camping on some of the most beautiful beaches on the coast. The group explored hidden channels as they worked north on Flores, arriving at Hot Springs Cove for a well-deserved soak.

While there was plenty of rain, a well-dialed tarp setup, warm meals, great company, and inspiring conversations beneath old-growth forests made even the wettest days some of the best parts of the adventure.

A huge thank you to this incredible group. Challenging conditions are a whole lot more fun with an amazing team!
