Our last night will be June 11 and then the Badminton club will shut down for the summer.

Due to the school cancelation today, there will be no badminton club this evening.

This year has been another successful year of badminton growth in the north.

We would like to push the excess funds into subsidizing clothing for people. We have a lot of old school hoodies and shirts around from 8-10 years ago and people keep asking where we got them.

We will be ordering new gear in our new club image. Once the custom order is placed, it will take a month to receive. If you would like any of the items, please email us at [email protected]. We can send you a sizing chart and finalize spelling.

-This is a rendered image and not EXACT to the tee of what we are ordering.
- The hoodie will be a thinner (not so warm) material, so people wont sweat buckets.
- Names will be placed on the back center of the jersey
- Names will be smaller and put on the BACK of the right shoulder for the hoodies, for some unique placement.

We will be covering 55% of the cost. Prices to the people ordering are below.

If we could get the attention of the parents of all the younger children for a second, that would be amazing.

It seems as though our club has hit a bit of a fork in the road. We have become very popular and even tonight, had 46 children. With a maximum of 16 players, it leaves 30 children on the sidelines in a very small gym space.

For liability and safety, our club has always had a the rule that if you are UNDER 12, you need to be accompanied by an adult. This rule we have been VERY lenient with because it has been so nice to see younger kids out playing badminton and being active, instead of being on their phones or playing video games.

However, now we are at a point of chaos. With double the children off court - then on court, we have children hitting shuttles on the side courts or behind, also attempting to do it in the hallway, which the custodians have forcefully told us is not acceptable. Tonight, along with other nights, a backetball and other items have come out of the equipment room. We now have basketballs rolling into courts. Many of these children are not bringing the $5 drop-in fee and just coming to play with their friends for free.

We want to promote the sport we love, but we also want to be able to play it safely and undisturbed. The courts are already close together, so stray shuttles from other games happen. But now almost every game has some kind of projectile coming from the sidelines or behind.

Being this large and popular in a small gym is not sustainable. Some people are waiting 25 minutes between games, only allowing them to play 2-3 games per night, which they have paid to be here for the 2 hours.

We as a club are going to have to find a path forward for next season. For this season though, we will need to find a way to survive and make sure people still get quality and safe games.

We ask if your child is UNDER 12, they be accompanied by an adult or someone over the age of 16 that can keep them under control.

Shout-out to Team North's Badminton Team on getting some spotlight. It was a long road but you are now famous, for better or worse. Athletes should hand out their signatures with dignity to all their fans.

TBC membership cost may need to increase to pay security guards for future appearances.

Our badminton team worked hard and it shows. With every obstacle and unfairness the north faces, we continue to make our way to the podium through hard work and a team-built atmosphere.
