The Sylvan Lake Witches Paddle

We are getting so much closer!!! Many of you have been wondering what is going on? So here’s a brief update. A few of us have been very busy behind the scene getting our foundation in place (permits, plans etc). Soon (very soon) we should be able to announce our plans moving forward and once we do, we will need all of you who have so generously spoken up to be volunteers to hit the ground running. We will make a list of everything that needs to be done, form mini committees. Ask people where their strength and interests lie and see who can help us out with which tasks. There will also be a need for volunteers on the ground the day of. So stay tuned. The Sylvan Lake Witches Paddle is brewing!!

SUNDAY, 2nd AUGUST 2026

You spend enough of your life holding everything together.

The jobs.
The house.
Other people’s moods, needs and bloody problems.
All while your own body stays tense, your jaw stays clenched and your mind never fully switches off.

So one bloody day is allowed to be about you.

And even if you are working today, you can still claim a few moments that belong only to you.

Put the kettle on.
Take your break properly.
Step outside for five minutes.
Eat something you actually enjoy.
Breathe before you rush into the next thing.

And when you do get a quiet moment, run the bath.
Throw in the herbs, salt and petals—whatever makes it feel like yours.

Let your shoulders drop.
Let your breathing slow.
Let your body remember that it does not have to be braced for something every second of the day.

You have carried enough lately.

So put it all down, soften… and bloody relax.

You are allowed one day where you do not worry about every thing.

Any stress can do one.

While we are anxiously awaiting permit approval, let’s get to know each other and have some fun. Let’s play a game of tag, for a tag. It’s easy, here’s how you play. Tag the person (or persons) who are your most FAVORITE to paddle with. Then share this post. It’s that easy. On August 22, we will randomly choose one person who did this, and they will receive a custom Sylvan Lake Witches Paddle key tag, personalized with their name on the back.

UPDATE
We have submitted our application for an event permit with the Town. Once that is approved, we will announce the date and move full speed ahead. For those who have put their names in to volunteer, we are so thankful to have you ready to jump in and as soon as we have the permit approval, we will be contacting you and making this happen!! In the meantime, we hope everyone is taking advantage of this warm weather and getting out on their boards. Hopefully this smoke will start to dissipate soon. Happy paddling 🧙‍♀️

**UPDATE**
Myself and Cynthia Fisher (my co chair) met with Chelsea Taylor today to get all the info from past paddles. I can’t thank Chelsea enough for all the work she has put into this event in the past and all the info she passed on to us today. I truly hope we can continue to make this a SPECTACULAR event and grow it into something even bigger. Lynette Paford has graciously stepped up to be the treasurer on this committee and we will be reaching out soon to all you other fantastic people that have stepped forward to volunteer. Our first order of business is to get an Event permit from the town. Once this is done, we can announce our date and move full speed ahead!! In the meantime, invite everyone and anyone you know who paddles (regardless of their location) to join our page and hopefully we can all paddle together soon!

Hi, I thought I should introduce myself. I am Marina. I will be stepping up as the new organizer for the Sylvan Lake Witches Paddle. That being said, this event takes a whole bunch of people to put it together and while we have an AMAZING committee that has stepped forward so far, We still need more volunteers. so if you’re on the fence, now is the time to step forward. I will be meeting with the past organizers within the next week to get all their notes and info and will call a committee meeting shortly after that. Let’s work together to make the 2026 Sylvan Lake Witches Paddle an amazing event!!! Blessed Be fellow witches. 🧙‍♀️

Hey Witchy Paddlers! 😍

Over the last couple of years, hosting the annual Witches Paddle has been absolute magic. Watching our waters fill up with pointy hats, flowing capes, and incredible community spirit has been one of our absolute favorite highlights!

​As life moves forward, some beautiful new chapters and changes are taking our focus. Because we want to see this wonderful tradition Megan started continue to thrive, we’ve made the decision that it’s time to pass the paddle to someone new that's able to fully commit to bringing the community together all for great causes ❤️

​We would absolutely love to see a passionate individual, group, or local business step in to carry this event forward and keep the magic alive. If you have the heart, the energy, and the drive to take over hosting the Witches Paddle, we would love to chat with you and help hand over the reins.
