🍯 SUPPORTING A LOCAL BUSINESS ❀️🐝

I wanted to share a little local business that I personally support and buy my honey from β€” BCB Honey Farm in South Surrey.

I’ve been buying their honey for a while now and absolutely love it. It’s local, delicious and high quality, and I really like knowing I’m supporting a local producer rather than buying honey off a grocery store shelf.

I’m always happy to support good local businesses, especially ones that are producing right here in BC. ❀️

If you enjoy honey, or are looking for a great local gift, pop in and give them a try!

What a weekend for the Unicorn Stables team at Campbell Valley Horse Trials!

Coach Emma took the team for the weekend, and while it was definitely strange not being there myself, I was so happy to hear about all the fun they had! (I did get to help drop off the horses and wave goodbye, so I wasn’t completely left out πŸ˜‚).

✨ Day 1 β€” Dressage
Our riders got to compete in the beautiful new dressage ring on the new footing! It was extra special getting to see everyone ride in the new ring after so many people, including our Unicorn gang, helped contribute toward making it possible. ❀️

✨ Day 2 β€” Cross Country
And what a day! Double clears for every single one of our riders! πŸŽ‰

Seeing the work our riders put in at home come together on course is one of the best parts of coaching. Everyone rode brilliantly and showed so much confidence and commitment. We couldn’t be prouder!

✨ Day 3 β€” Show Jumping
The weekend finished with more great riding and lots of lovely, steady clear rounds!

πŸ† Results:

πŸ₯‡ Ella & Atlas β€” 1st
πŸ₯ˆ Loghan & Elli β€” 2nd
πŸ… Emma & Spector β€” 9th
πŸ… Madeleine & Bean β€” 9th
A special mention for Spector, who had never schooled at CVP before! He handled the whole experience like a total superstar and took everything in stride. ❀️

Congratulations to all of our riders and horses! It was such a great weekend of learning, gaining experience, and putting all that hard work into practice. We are incredibly proud of every one of you! πŸ¦„πŸ‘

And of course, these weekends don’t happen without a whole lot of people behind the scenes!

❀️ Thank you, Coach Emma, for taking care of the team and coaching throughout the weekend.

❀️ Thank you to the Campbell Valley Horse Trials organizers, volunteers, and officials for putting on such a fantastic event.

❀️ Thank you to Pacific Riding for Developing Abilities for our stabling and for welcoming the Unicorn horses.

❀️ And thank you, Sam, for doing horse pick-up at the end!

Another weekend of great memories for the Unicorn team β€” and another one to be proud of! πŸ¦„β€οΈβœ¨

πŸ‡ Southlands Riding Club 2 & 3/4 Phase – What a Weekend! πŸ¦„

Our Southlands weekends always begin long before the first rider enters the ring!

We arrived on Thursday and got everyone settled into their home away from home. Horses were tucked into their stalls, tack rooms were organized, and riders had a chance to get comfortable with the grounds and prepare for the busy days ahead. Friday was cross-country schooling day. It was a great opportunity for horses and riders to get out on course, build confidence, and make a plan for Sunday. For some, it was about introducing a new partnership to the Southlands course; for others, it was a chance to fine-tune their ride before competition began. Saturday brought the first official day of competition, with dressage followed by show jumping. Our riders put forward some beautiful tests and confident jumping rounds, with plenty of ribbons and personal bests along the way. Then came cross-country Sunday and the rain! Despite the very wet conditions, our riders tackled the course with determination, excellent horsemanship, and plenty of smiles. We were incredibly proud of how everyone handled the weather, supported their horses, and helped one another throughout the day.

A huge congratulations to Yaslynn, who was awarded Best Turned Outβ€”a wonderful recognition of the care, pride, and attention to detail that goes into preparing for every outing.

We also celebrated some exciting milestones:

✨ Ingrid & Penny completed their very first horse show together.
✨ Annika & Bean competed at their very first horse show.
✨ Alexa completed her very first Entry-level event.
✨ Jazzmyn & Baloo stepped into the competition ring together as a new partnership.

πŸ† Unicorn Spirit Award πŸ¦„

One of our new Southlands traditions is recognizing riders who make the weekend better for everyone through sportsmanship, kindness, teamwork, and a willingness to help. Although we didn’t have a chance to present the award at the show, we couldn’t let the weekend pass without recognizing a few very deserving riders.

πŸ’™ Ella – Thank you for keeping everyone organized and on track throughout the weekend. You were always available to answer questions from our newer riders, generously shared your knowledge during course walks, and were an incredible support to the Unicorn coaching team. Your leadership and willingness to help did not go unnoticed.

πŸ’™ Ingrid & Annika – Thank you both for consistently making sure Coach Emma’s horses had hay and water. Your thoughtfulness, initiative, and willingness to quietly help behind the scenes are exactly what the Unicorn Spirit Award is all about.

These acts of kindness and teamwork are what make Unicorn Stables such a special place. Please remember to collect your prizes the next time you are at the barn!

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the weekend run so smoothly. Riders were organized, on time, and always ready to lend a hand. Even when the rain arrived on Sunday, the positivity never disappeared.

I especially enjoyed having the opportunity to coach some of Coach Emma’s students and get to know everyone a little better. Watching riders encourage one another, celebrate each other’s successes, and offer support through every phase is exactly what our barn community is all about.

Congratulations to every rider, horse, coach, family member, and volunteer. Whether you brought home a ribbon, completed your first horse show, moved up a level, began a new partnership, or achieved a personal goal, you should be incredibly proud.

Thank you to Southlands for another wonderful weekend. We can’t wait to do it all again in September! πŸ’™πŸ¦„

Recently our Working Equitation team went to Campbell Valley to compete in the WestCoast Working Equitation Show!

The riders and horses all did a fabulous job. Coach Cass is so proud of all the hard work and progress they have put in this past year

Chantal and Kahlie- finished 3rd in L2
Janet and Spud- finished 5th in L2
Ava and Tucker- there was a few hiccups in navigating the course, But Ava and Tucker had a blast!

Brit and Bella- finished 3rd in L1

Claire and Quince- finished in 1st in L1 Junior 🀩

The teamwork of these ladies does not go unnoticed, they all supported and cheered each other on all weekend long!

Here is an Overview from our riders on their experience-

β€œWe really appreciated the opportunity for a clinic with Judge Amy Star from Arizona. She did an excellent job patiently working the riders through the challenging obstacles in the course she designed.

The water and both up and down banks are permitted working equitation obstacles, and the Campbell Valley location allowed us to include them this year. These elements added a new and exciting challenge to the Ease of Handling and Speed rounds. We were all glad to be on capable event horses that were confident on the uneven terrain.

Overall both the course difficulty level and the skills of the other competitors were higher this year, reflecting the growth of Working Eq in the region. Everyone rode really well, (even if we did get a bit lost sometimes) and brought home some prizes for our efforts. It was a wonderfull weekend, and thanks to PRDA for hosting our horses in thier comfy stalls.”

Thank you so much to Campbell Valley Equestrian Society for hosting, Pacific Riding for Developing Abilities for stabling our ponies, Star, Sarah Bradley, and all the other amazing people that put in their hard work to have this show run!

Rebecca Farm 2026 πŸ’™πŸ΄

On Sunday, July 12, Ella and Max set off for Rebecca Farm in Montana with the amazing Z-Eventing. They broke up the journey with a cross-country schooling stop in Spokane before arriving at Rebecca Farm on Monday.

Wednesday saw them complete their dressage test, where they had some lovely moments and produced a solid performance. Thursday brought an exciting cross-country course filled with new questions and challenges for Max, and on Friday they finished their competition on a high, jumping a fantastic double-clear show jumping round!

With their competition complete, they were able to enjoy the rest of the week watching world-class cross-country, soaking up the atmosphere, and heading out on beautiful hacks through the stunning canola fields.

A huge thank you, as always, to Sara Sellmer and the entire Z Eventing family for their support, encouragement, and making this such a memorable experience.

We are incredibly proud of Ella and Max. More than anything, they achieved their goals, gained valuable experience, and had so much fun together.

And here’s some exciting news… next year Unicorn Stables is heading back to Rebecca Farm! It’s been a few years since we’ve made the trip, and we can’t wait to return with our team.

Congratulations, Ella and Maxβ€”we’re so proud of you both! πŸ’™πŸ¦„

A huge thank you to Ouellette Landscaping Ltd. for the fantastic job they did regrading our paddocks, installing new footing, and putting in French drains at Unicorn Stables.

From start to finish, the crew was professional, organized, tidy, and incredibly considerate. They took great care working around our horses, which meant a lot to us.

What really stood out was their commitment to the job. After our first rainfall, they came back to check that everything was working as it should and to make sure we were completely happy with the results. That level of customer service is exceptional.

We are absolutely thrilled with the outcome and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Ouellette Landscaping to anyone looking for quality workmanship and a team that truly takes pride in what they do. Thank you for a job very well done!

What a great time last week!

It all started with an amazing few days at the Calgary Stampede, making incredible memories with great friends.

Then it was back home for a fantastic few days of learning with Jody Hartstone The Equine Catalyst, diving deeper into Equitation Science and continuing our commitment to improving our knowledge and training for the benefit of both our horses and riders.

We also enjoyed a fun clinic with Coach Cass up at the riding ring, working with our Working Equitation riders. It was a fantastic day of learning, confidence building, and developing new skills for both horses and riders.

We wrapped up the week with our Unicorn Barn Bash, and what a fantastic night it was! It was wonderful to see so many of our Unicorn family come together to enjoy great food, live music, laughter, and good company.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out and made the evening so special. We truly appreciate our amazing clients and the wonderful community we’ve built together. It’s weekends like this that remind us how lucky we are to be part of such a supportive and fun barn family. πŸ¦„πŸ’•

Maple Ridge Equi-Sports Centre Mrs. t horse trials!

We had a lovely, relaxed weekend at the Maple Ridge Horse Show with just three Unicorn riders competing.

Saturday was dressage day, followed by show jumping. Ella and Max produced a very nice dressage test and followed it up with a positive, confident show jumping round. Eala and Alf also rode a respectable dressage test before jumping a brilliant clear round, leaving every rail in place. Loghan and Ellie completed a lovely dressage test and finished the day with a beautiful show jumping round.

Sunday saw all three combinations ride like champions. Every rider completed the cross-country without any jump penalties, with just a few time faults for Eala and Loghan.

Congratulations to:
πŸ₯‰ Ella & Max on a fantastic 5th place finish.
πŸ¦„ Loghan & Ellie on successfully completing their very first EV77 together.
πŸŽ‰ Eala & Alf on finishing 8th. As a new partnership, it was so lovely to see my special boy back out competing again, and they have a really exciting future ahead of them.

I’m incredibly proud of all three riders. It was a fantastic weekend with happy horses, positive rides, and plenty to celebrate.

Thank you so much MREC for hosting! All your hard work makes these events so special
