The West Nipissing Lynx put on an offensive show Friday night at the Sturgeon Falls Arena, exploding for 12 goals on 63 shots to defeat the Almaguin Spartans.

And it was a night to remember for #30 Aiden Shaw.Making his first Junior A start & picks up his FIRST JUNIOR A WIN!

The West Nipissing Lynx are proud to announce our 2026–27 Leadership Group! 🐾

Our locker room is filled with excellent candidates, and while only a few players will wear letters on their jerseys, every individual in that room will play a role in keeping this team together as a family — something we take tremendous pride in.

This season, we’re excited to introduce your new Captain and Assistant Captains!

CAPTAIN — #15 TYLER THIBODEAU
Entering his 3rd season in a Lynx uniform, Tyler has taken a huge step forward this summer in his personal development.
More importantly, Tyler has become increasingly involved with our ownership group and has taken an active role in helping build this team and organization.
During our Youth Skills Camp, Tyler showed tremendous initiative, leadership, and willingness to give back to the next generation of players.
He’s ready to take on this responsibility — and we’re excited to see him lead this group.

ASSISTANT CAPTAINS
#12 ZACHARY PIQUETTE
Also entering his 3rd season with the Lynx, Zachary arrived at Main Camp with a mission — to lead, contribute, and become even more involved both inside the locker room and throughout our community.
His commitment and leadership will be an important part of this group.

#8 CARSON RUDDY
Our only returning leader from last season, Carson has experienced the highs and lessons that came with our incredible playoff run.
Now, he’s ready to take what he learned and help lead this team one step further this season.

#14 SAVELIY KORNEV
A silent leader who leads by example, especially on the ice.
Going from a rookie last season to wearing an A this year speaks volumes about the type of person Saveli is and the respect he has earned from his teammates.
His work ethic, consistency, and commitment make him a natural fit for this leadership group.

🐾 Lynx Finish the Weekend with 4 Points!

Last night’s matchup against the Titans was a dominant performance from the Lynx, but as we all know, hockey can change quickly. Great goaltending kept the Titans in the game and prevented the score from reflecting the chances the Lynx created.

The Lynx outshot the Titans 56–25, with 40 shots coming in the first two periods.

🔥 The Russian Line came to play!
#14 Saveliy Kornev, #25 Nikita Morozov, and #72 Sergey Tishchenko combined for an impressive 8 points on the night.

The Lynx have shown plenty of positives through the first four games of the season, while also identifying areas that Head Coach Braden Simon wants to clean up heading into next weekend’s two home games.

The West Nipissing Lynx are proud to announce the signing of defenceman Johnny Couch for the 2026–27 GMHL season!

A Corbeil, Ontario product, Couch brings junior hockey experience, local roots, and an impressive development background to the Lynx blue line.

Couch enjoyed an outstanding season with the North Bay Trappers U18 AAA, recording:
19 GP | 8 G | 14 A | 22 PTS

He elevated his game when it mattered most.
In just 5 playoff games, Johnny recorded 2 goals and 7 assists for 9 points, helping the Trappers capture the Great North U18 Championship! 🏆

📈 JUNIOR EXPERIENCE
Johnny continued his development at the junior level with the Cambridge Redhawks of the GOJHL, where he recorded:
35 GP | 1 G | 10 A | 11 PTS

What a night in West Nipissing! 🔥

The West Nipissing Lynx continued their strong start to the 2026–27 GMHL season with a 9–3 victory over the Ville-Marie Pirates on home ice Friday night.

The Lynx came out firing offensively and never let up, with contributions coming throughout the lineup.

⭐ A night to remember for two Lynx players:

#11 Preston Seguin-Hutchison recorded his first career GMHL goal, while also adding 4 assists for a huge 5-point night.

#67 Colten Lane also found the back of the net for his first GMHL goal, marking another important milestone.

#16 Greyson Brewer Case & #34 Kian Wilson picked up their first Jr points with assists on two important goals. 👌

The Lynx also received a standout performance from Sergey Tishchenko, who finished the night with 2 goals and 3 assists.
