Alhambra Summer Event is fast approaching and we still need a lot of volunteers. If you are available and would like to help out please reach out to me, here or on my cell by text 1-403-505-2505. We need about 5 for Friday, 15 for Saturday and 15 for Sunday still. Volunteers are the backbone of the eventing!!

The storms didn't stop the Mind's Eye Team from getting the job done! From fighting weeks of rain to the big storm that ripped through Edmonton and area Saturday night, the event was up against the footing conditions. It was looking good to go, then the big storm hit the night before XC. The officials prudently reduced the speeds required for the upper divisions and took out a jump that was sitting in a low spot. Course Designer Brian Vicars made the best ground work for his course and although there were a fair number of scratches, the ones that did go out cross country mostly had a good go. The Preliminary pretty much rode perfectly and the coffins rode very well. I just want to say thanks to the organizers, Dale and Monica and their team for all their hard work. They have a very experienced team here which made my job as TD easy. Well done to all the competitors as well!

Thank you so much for having me on board as assistant TD. I really enjoyed the weekend and I am looking forward to taking on the role of Technical Delegate next year. So many great people keep this event going! We all benefit from your hard work and enthusiasm!

I recently certified as a level 2 TD and had the privilege of assisting Technical Delegate, Jenny Franks at the Beaumont Horse Trials in Alberta. What a great experience! The organizing crew spearheaded by Clearwatervalley Pony Club were fantastic - so smoothly making the event run, and Jenny's many years of experience in the position were all so great to work with. Alberta Horse Trials Association and all Alberta's riders benefit from their selfless volunteerism! We are all fortunate to have such knowledgeable pet running our events.

Since downsizing and focusing more on officiating, I no longer need the big blue tractor. Please share if you know anyone looking for a good, solid tractor at a reasonable price 39K

An historic Kentucky Derby! So many amazing stories were made. Best Derby since Secretariat won!

Kentucky Derby Day! In 1999, I happened to be at the Kentucky Derby for no other reason than I had competed at the Kentucky Rolex (as it was called then) and my horse trailer needed some work before I could go home so I had some time in my hands. Some of the other riders' grooms invited Wondar Lehman and I to watch the derby with them at the barns. After the Eventing season and running the big event, I was completely broke and had no money to be frivolous with. BUT, you can't go to the most famous horse race in the world and not put down a bet. So I borrowed $5 from Ruth and studied up the racing forms. I put the money on Real Quiet and Victory Gallop and unbelievably they came in 1st and 2nd! From a $5 bet, I won $735.00! It was gas money home! The Lord works in mysterious ways! 😁. I still have Real Quiet's portrait in my office, 🍀
