Today, on Red Shirt Day, Open Courts reaffirms its commitment to making tennis a more accessible and inclusive sport for all.
We would like to give a big thank you to Easter Seals for all of the great work they have done with Open Courts and our All Court Champs program. Over these past several months, their partnership and support has allowed us to grow our organization, and help individuals with disabilities in our province have the opportunity to play tennis.

A big thank you to Sharon Hurley for joining us for a special announcement at the fourth annual Jack Hurley Memorial Cup. We are thrilled to accept the Hurley family’s generous donation to Open Courts, which will help fund program lesson fees for youth in the province. This donation embodies Jack’s spirit and vision for a more inclusive, accessible tennis community.
Jack was a beloved tennis coach for many years, and was a staple in the tennis scene in the province. Jack was a positive beam of light when he was on the courts, and has had great influence on the games of many adult and junior players, including several of our Board members. In February 2022, the tennis community lost Jack after a courageous battle with ALS. To honour the legacy and the impact that he has left on so many across the province, the Jack Hurley Memorial Cup was organized to remember his encouraging spirit, fun personality, and infectious smile on the court.
Once again, a huge thank you to Sharon and her family for their contribution.
