Rockin’ days in the Sound 🤘

Terrible surface conditions this weekend, unbelievable depth visibility and clarity: so many Lion’s Mane Jellyfish 🪼😍

👉 This is cold water freediving at its finest:

1. Learn to relax on the surface with waves + wind
2. Equalize past the first 15 feet of murky water
3. By 20 feet a stunning world opens up with plumose anemone forests, lingcods and jellyfish

Trust the process. Adaptation takes time, patience and work. 🤘

Can you spot the mistake? 🤔

CrazyBun is already an experienced cold water freediver plunging easily to 30 meters (100 feet) into the cold and dark waters of the Howe Sound.

She can go to 40 meters, I know this even though she may not yet believe it. However, before I let her go even 1 meter deeper, what IMPORTANT HABIT does she have to work on:

Improved RECOVERY BREATHS

Yep, recovery breaths are fundamental for all dives, especially ones that involve a longer freefall and a larger portion of the dive in negative buoyancy.

THE DEEP BLACKOUT RESCUE 🤘

Congratulations to Jesse Ignell from Bellingham Freediving for absolutely crushing his crossover as a MOLCHANOVS INTERNATIONAL W2I Instructor.

To finish off an excellent weekend of teaching, Jesse executed a 20 meter deep rescue in pitch black freezing water, low visibility, and the victim (me) laying on the bottom.

Go visit Jesse south of the border. 🇺🇸 🇨🇦

deep rescue from a shipwreck…

however unlikely, these scenarios should be trained if freedivers plan to breath-hold dive in areas with overhead hazards: shipwrecks, caves, piers, etc.

the application is simple, but the training is crucial and the confidence it builds in divers is a game-changer…
