So last week, playing rugby. A member of the opposing team jumped on top of our maul, collapsed it, and the weight of the whole maul twisted my ankle and injured me. For those who aren't familiar with Rugby, this is an illegal move.
Today with a CT scan to confirm it, I was diagnosed with an avulsion fracture of my left lateral malleolus (aka ankle bone), with significant tearing of one of my tibulofibular ligaments. This was quite disappointing since it was the first game back for 2026, and I had barely played in the fall of 2025. I didn't even get a chance to make a tackle, my MOST FAVORITE thing to do in rugby because it was 5 min. Anyways, journey goes on. I'll be pivoting, and spending my time developing myself athletically in other ways until I can play again.
Athletes.
Ill be hobbling around the gym for a while longer using an aircast and crutch. But coaching and training goes on without a hitch.
I hope this serves as an example to all athletes to love your sport when you get the chance to love it. But dont allow obstacles to stop you from your goals. Just pivot, find a new path, and continue your growth.
Thanks to for sharing his cast and crutch with.
Thanks to for keeping on the right path during my rehab
Thanks to the for their amazing support.

I had a great time presenting yesterday for the Squamish ACL support group on S&C and the steps needed to improve an ACL injury too 100% and beyond post injury or surgery.
Thank you for inviting to give this presentation. The ACL support group are people in Squamish who get together to find comradary, and community through the injury. With so many skier, bikers, and field athletes in the sea-to-sky, this is a fantastic group of people doing great work for each other. I was grateful for hopefully contributing a little to their community and injury journies.

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to work with a FANTASTIC team from of scientists, exercise physiologists, and coaches. We ran 45 🤯 VO2max tests on the .
It was great to be part of such a well oiled machine. The preparation alone was a massive undertaking done by the talented Stacey Hutton.
Thank you to for inviting to be part of their team.
Thank you to for trusting us with such an important test day.
From a coaching perspective, if you're not periodically testing your athletes, then there is no real way to know if your training is effective for their goals, and for the requirements of their sport. Tests should be evidence-based, and if possible, using the gold standard to test as often as possible. Collecting data is invaluable. Make it a priority resource in your arsenal for coaching.

Run Strong classes are back at falllinefitness this autumn. We are excited to get this class going again after having such a successful class last year. We have a few spots still available to fill so we are opening it up to the public.
Haven't joined one of our Run Strong classes before? Let me break it down a little for you here.
1) Small (6 people) strength & conditioning classes for runners made to be affordable, effective to your running and fun.
2) The class is led by a Kinesiologist, and strength & conditioning coach who specializes in running and strength for athletes.
3) We have this class so runners can have a safe and accountable way to improve their strength and increase their injury resiliency while they train for their first 5k, or are seasoned ultra runners.
4) Perks of being part of this class is that all athletes train like a team, creating a supportive and inclusive feeling, access to top end coaching, and technology to track and improve your training for you. And registered class members get access to VO2max and blood lactate testing (contact for more info).
