🚫 "Eat less to weigh less." It's one of the biggest lies many of us grew up believing.
If you were raised through the diet culture of the '80s and '90s, you've probably been taught that if the scale isn't moving, the answer is simple: eat even less.
But our bodies aren't calculators.
After years of chronic dieting, cutting calories lower and lower, skipping meals, and constantly trying to "be good," your body adapts. Metabolism slows, hunger cues become unreliable, energy drops, sleep suffers, hormones can become disrupted, and eventually your body starts fighting against you instead of working with you.
One of the hardest conversations I have as a coach is telling someone who wants to lose weight...
"I actually need you to eat more first."
It sounds completely backwards.
But before we ask your body to lose fat, we need to make sure it's getting enough nutrition to actually function.
✅ Hunger and fullness cues should make sense. ✅ Energy should be steady throughout the day. ✅ Sleep should be restorative. ✅ Recovery should be happening. ✅ Hormones and (for many women) menstrual cycles should be supported. ✅ Your body should be getting the vitamins, minerals, protein, and overall fuel it needs.
Only then can we create a calorie deficit that your body can actually tolerate and sustain.
Weight loss isn't about eating as little as possible.
It's about giving your body what it needs so it feels safe enough to let go of what it doesn't.
I'd love to hear from you: Were you taught "eat less to weigh less" growing up? Has it made your journey easier... or harder? 👇 Let's chat in the comments.

🥣 Same foods. Different goals.
One of the biggest misconceptions in nutrition is that "healthy eating" and "weight loss eating" are the same.
The truth?
Both bowls contain nutritious foods. The difference is simply the amount.
If your goal is to fuel your body, maintain your weight, or support performance, you may need a little more food to match your energy needs.
If your goal is fat loss, you might eat the exact same foods—but in slightly smaller portions to create a calorie deficit.
Healthy eating isn't about cutting out foods.
Weight loss isn't about eating "clean."
It's about matching your nutrition to your goal.
The best nutrition plan isn't the one someone else is following—it's the one that's appropriate for your body, your lifestyle, and your goals.
Because success doesn't come from eating less.
It comes from eating the right amount for what you're trying to achieve. 💙
Not every goal is measured by the scale.
Not every workout is about losing fat, building muscle, or improving your health.
Sometimes, it's about asking yourself one simple question:
"What am I capable of?"
That first pull-up. Your first 5K. Lifting a weight you never thought possible. Showing yourself that you can do hard things.
Those moments build something much bigger than strength—they build confidence.
Because when you prove to yourself that you're capable of more than you thought, it changes the way you approach every challenge in life.
So whether you're training for performance, longevity, health, or simply to push beyond your comfort zone... keep showing up.
You might surprise yourself with what you're capable of. 💙

If you've ever felt like you "can't stop" once you start eating certain foods, we want you to read this. It's not a willpower problem.
Researchers locked 20 people in a lab for a month and fed them two diets that were matched for calories, sugar, fat, sodium, and fiber. The only difference was how processed the food was. People could eat as much or as little as they wanted.
On the ultra-processed diet, they ate 508 more calories a day. Same person, same hunger ratings, just 500 extra calories they didn't even notice. Over two weeks they gained 2 pounds. On the whole-food diet, the exact same people lost 2 pounds.
The kicker? They ate faster on the processed food. Soft, easy-to-chew, calorie-dense stuff goes down before your body can shout "I'm full."
So here's what we want you to take from this: you are not broken. The food is engineered to be easy to overeat. Change the food on your plate and you change how much you eat without white-knuckling anything.
This week, swap one ultra-processed item for a whole-food version. One swap. Let the food do the heavy lifting.

Your weight can fluctuate for SO many reasons that have nothing to do with “failing.” 👏
In fact, research shows it’s completely normal for body weight to fluctuate by 2–5+ pounds from day to day depending on things like hydration, sodium intake, carbohydrates, hormones, digestion, inflammation, stress, sleep, and activity levels. Your body is made up of roughly 60% water — meaning small shifts in fluid balance alone can create noticeable changes on the scale.
One high-sodium meal.
Poor sleep.
Travel.
Stress.
Hormones.
A tough workout.
Constipation.
Inflammation.
All of these can temporarily change your scale weight without reflecting actual fat gain or fat loss.
The scale is simply a data point — not a reflection of your worth, effort, or progress.
Too often, people panic after seeing the scale jump up overnight and assume they’ve “ruined everything,” when in reality the body is constantly responding to recovery, hydration, food volume, hormones, and life itself.
This is why we focus on trends over time, not single-day weigh-ins.
Progress isn’t built in one meal, one workout, or one weigh-in.
And it’s definitely not destroyed by them either 💛
Today’s Coffee Talk ☕️
We’re diving into the pressure so many people feel to be “perfect” in order to see progress.
The truth? Consistency doesn’t come from perfection.
It comes from building habits and behaviours that you can actually sustain through real life.
Today we’re talking about:
✨ How to stay consistent with nutrition
✨ What consistency with exercise really looks like
✨ Why habits and behaviours matter more than all-or-nothing thinking
✨ How to stop letting one “off day” derail your progress
Because lasting results aren’t built by being perfect.
They’re built by continuing to show up. 💙
