Congratulations to Jill Doucet, a graduate of Edward Milne Community School, who captured gold at the National Collegiate Boxing Association championships on April 11 while representing the University of Washington. She was also named the tournament’s Best Female Boxer.
Doucet’s success is a powerful example of what athletes from small communities can achieve. “You can do anything you put your mind to,” she said. “Just make sure you enjoy what you’re doing.”
She plans to graduate this fall before returning to Vancouver Island to pursue law school.
