As the weather eases out of its bite; don't forget to make it out on the trails.

Freshly groomed today.

With a great thanks to the many hands that helped including the students of Joseph H Kerr.

A couple kilometers of the trails have been repaired from the seasons damage.

The Ski trails have been tracked and ready for enjoyment.

A disappointing sight.

It's a tender topic to speak to another on how to use a trail in the forest.

However a moment to speak on behalf of the effort spent in preparation for others.

Tomorrow marks the beginning of the 51st Frontier Games Divisionals and we in Snow Lake will be hosting nearly 500 students. Of those youth; many will be taking to our trails in competition.

It's now been discovered that a SxS has aggressively shredded our groomed track.

With busy times beginning. To reset our course is a frustration that we wish to make public.

Please be mindful of those that wish to tread lightly. Their experience is valuable as well.

Please refrain from exercising heavy machinery on the Snow Lake Cross Country Ski Trails.

There were no further posts in 2023, and 2024 was no better. There were no paid up members in 2024, after poor weather and poor snow conditions. Garry Zamzow, a long time stalwart of the ski club sadly died on July 31st, 2024. On December 16th 2024 Cole Dunbar was elected President and Steve Deighton became Vice President, so a new generation has taken over the running of the Club. Tracks have already been set, we had a poor start to the season with a poor freeze up, lots of slush, but conditions have settled, and more information will follow about Frontier school competitions .

The map below shows the snowshoe trail system at present, and you can see it is closely adjacent to the ski trails. It is suggested that you use ski poles to assist you as there are some steep hills and mounds. If you follow the outside loop, ie from the parking lot up the road trail, across to confusion corner, down the cabin trail and back to the start across the mountain, it is about 3.4K, or just over 2 miles.

The weather forecast suggests we won’t have enough snow to ski on Xmas day, for the first time in 40 years. We have been working on the snowshoe trails, which are a little rough but usable. In the windstorm of 2022 we were able to clear the ski trails, but didn’t have the time or manpower to clear the snowshoe trails, but this has now been rectified and we have about a 5K loop which runs adjacent to the ski trails. There is no charge to use these snowshoe trails, but a donation to the ski club is always welcome. A map of the snowshoe trails will be published in the next few days.

The video shows the amount from the windstorm in 2021. We were able to clear the debris for the skiers, but were unable to open the snowshoe trails. This Fall we have worked on the snowshoe trails which are now usable.

Trails were tracked this am, they are shallow up to the road, because of snow compaction from the snowshoe races but back to normal on the far side of the road
