A little Throwback Thursday, this was printed in The Record News in 2013.

It is hard to believe that our fall/winter leagues will be starting up again in four weeks time.

We would like to take the time to thank everyone for their contributions and assistance over the last several weeks. Special thanks go out to Alain Menard for his expertise and guidance, Steve Brinkworth for his unwavering dedication and commitment and for the tremendous amount of work performed during this absolutely exhausting renovation, Sylvain Bercier for supplying and delivering the synthetic panels for our reno, Mike Minge for his help levelling the lanes, and to everyone else who contributed their time and effort over the last several weeks.

2 week’s ago today, Gratton Lanes began the largest renovation in its 63 year history.
The first half (almost) of each lane had the gutters, ball returns, and rails removed. The lanes were then cut to allow us to raise the lanes temporarily to remove the underlying shims, then the lane was dropped back into its original position. Two synthetic panels (23 feet in total length) were placed on top of the old wooden lane, then secured and levelled. This work was done to fix the wear and tear from the many years of bowling balls being pounded onto the lanes with each throw. With the tremendous effort and determination of everyone involved, we were able to finish the job in less than half the time we had expected with no interruptions to our public or league bowlers. The new synthetic lanes will ensure many years of future use for our public, league, and tournament bowlers.
