Yup, we are bringing in Kent Strawberry Roots again this year 🍓!
3 years in a row customers have told me how much they love this variety and how well their roots have established. Big juicy berries on highly productive plants give you a big harvest in June. Perfect for freezing, preserves or eating fresh, there is nothing quite like a strawberry picked in season from your back door Our roots should be arriving just before Mothers Day and are available now for pre-order. We have a limited supply this year so don't wait to order.
Head to the shop tab at www.flowersandveg.com to order

Well we made it to October which is amazing! The grasshoppers finally started to die in the cold and we got a couple nice harvests of dahlias net free in the sunshine😊
We had a light frost Monday that’s ended the season of fresh flowers for us for the season. Although I was definitely ready for it this year, it’s always a little bitter sweet. Until next year dahlias!
And now for the great dahlia dig 2025! The crew is coming tomorrow while it’s warm enough not to freeze our hands washing them!

Let’s talk deadheading. Most of you know that removing spent flowers encourages plants to make more but I must admit I have been surprised at just how many.
The last half of the summer we have had incredible bug pressure. Everything from grasshoppers to thrips, lygus bugs and more. We have netted, bagged, removed, & fertilized all in an attempt to bring pest numbers back in balance. At one point the dahlias were so badly affected, I filled 3 wheelbarrows with damaged dahlia heads. Definitely the most ruthless cull I have ever done. Then I released the 3rd round of beneficial insects from (thrip eating mites and green lace wings)
The result? A week later, the most bountiful rebloom! It has made me braver. Chop earlier when there is a problem. Stop tip toeing around trying to save flowers that ‘might’ be ok and get out the hedge trimmer!
We will be back at the Farmers Market in GP on Sept 27th with the largest haul of dahlias yet. ❤️🌼

Time for a Farm Update!
🌼 We have lots of beautiful options for bouquets delivered to GP tomorrow and it’s not too late to order online 😁
🧄 Our Red Russian Garlic is looking great and is ready to go, so go ahead and place your orders online and we will be delivering them over the next couple weeks😊
🌼 We will NOT be at the Farmers Market Saturday Sept 20th but the weather is still looking good and we WILL still be there for Sept 27th!
🌼 We have not been able to add upick dates as the grasshoppers are insane and we are having to net the rows making it too cumbersome for a upick. If the cooler weather slows them down, I will consider it then but for the moment, the upick is closed for the season 😢
🌼 We have some dried flower workshops coming up for October & November so get on our email list if you want first access to them! (Sign up from our website homepage, link in the bio)
Thank you everyone for all the flowery love!
