Receive up to $10K for your Métis cultural project! The Métis Cultural Development Fund (MCDF) supports community-based activities and initiatives that preserve, strengthen, and transmit Métis culture and traditions. Examples from past recipients include canoe trips, Métis dance lessons, podcasts featuring Métis Elder interviews, workshops featuring Métis art (beading, moccasin-making, finger weaving, etc), Métis culture days and camps, and so many more!

The Gabriel Dumont Institute has been administering scholarships for Saskatchewan Métis since the early 1980s through the Gabriel Dumont Scholarship Foundation. For more information, please contact [email protected].

We are proud to have our GDI Press title, The Giving Tree, selected to the IBBY-UNESCO Collection of Remarkable Books in Indigenous and Endangered Languages! The Giving Tree is written and illustrated by Leah Dorion and was translated into Southern Michif by Norman Fleury. The book also contains narrations in English and Southern Michif by Leah and Norman.

IBBY (International Board on Books for Young People) and UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) worked together to create the Collection of Remarkable Books in Indigenous and Endangered Languages, featuring nearly 170 books in more than 150 languages! An international selection committee featuring 12 members from around the world worked hard to select the titles from over 500 entries.

Congratulations to Leah, Norman, and the GDI Press team for this honour!
