Another dinghy to spin around the bay! The Mirror dinghy is sure fun to sail and fascinating to figure out how to rig. I have many questions to research now, like how on earth to rig the kite?

⚓️ Welcome to the Victoria Classic Boat Festival, SV Dorothy!
Built in Victoria, BC, by J.J. Robinson, Dorothy is a 30-foot gaff-rigged sloop designed by Linton Hope. Originally launched in 1897, she is recognized as the oldest Canadian sailboat still actively sailing. Her sleek lines and pristine condition belie her advanced years, following a comprehensive multi-year refit completed in 2024. Thanks to the dedicated support of our donors and volunteers, she is once again gliding through her home waters of the Salish Sea.
Today, Dorothy serves as the Maritime Museum of BC’s sailing ambassador, capturing the spirit and elegance of vintage sail. She is a frequent guest at regional regattas, opening days, maritime festivals, and youth sailing programs. By welcoming young sailors aboard a vessel built before their great-grandparents were born, we offer the next generation a hands-on connection to coastal maritime history.
Check out who else is joining the fleet on our Current Participants page: https://mmbc.bc.ca/classic-boat-festival/current-participants/

What happens when an all-women’s sailing team takes on one of the biggest names in America’s Cup history? ⛵
Join us for a special Crew Social on Thursday, September 10 at 5:30 PM with guest Stephanie Kerr, who’ll share her firsthand experience as part of Mighty Mary, the first all-women’s team to compete for the America’s Cup.
In 1995, Mighty Mary made history when they defeated Stars & Stripes, helmed by four-time America’s Cup winner Dennis Conner, before a controversial decision changed the outcome.
Stephanie will take us behind the scenes of that incredible chapter in sailing history and give us a preview of the new documentary telling their story, directed by Mary Mazzio and narrated by Hugh Jackman and Elizabeth Banks.
🎬 The documentary comes to AMC Pacific Place on September 11.
Our Crew Social is open to the public, so bring your friends and family and come hear the story from someone who was there.
