September has that “okay… time to get back on track” feeling, doesn’t it?
Summer schedules are winding down.
The kids are back to school.
Routines are starting again.
And maybe you’re thinking…
I need a reset.
But here’s what I don’t want you to do:
❌ Start another restrictive diet
❌ Try to undo the summer in a week
❌ Cut out everything you enjoy
❌ Decide you have to be “perfect” starting Monday
Instead, let’s get back to the basics.
🥩 Nourishing your body
💧 Drinking enough water
🥦 Getting your fiber in
🚶♀️ Moving your body
😴 Prioritizing sleep
❤️ Creating routines you can actually stick with
You don’t need to start over. You just need to get back to the habits that make you feel good.
And that’s exactly what we work on inside Thrive Through Midlife….simple nutrition, healthy habits and support to help you feel better and stay consistent, without the all-or-nothing approach.
If September feels like your time to reset, I’d love to have you inside. 💕

5 WAYS I’M LOOKING AFTER ME DURING PERIMENOPAUSE 💕
Perimenopause has taught me something I wish I understood sooner…..
I can’t just keep pushing through stress and expect my body to be fine.
Sometimes it feels like it takes ONE little thing to push me over the edge and suddenly my nervous system is like, “Nope. We’re done.” 🤪
So instead of waiting until I’m completely overwhelmed, I’m being much more intentional about the things I do regularly to support myself:
1️⃣ I prioritize good nutrition.
I start my day with a nutritious, protein-rich breakfast because I know how much better I feel when I’m properly fuelled.
2️⃣ I move my body.
I love starting my day with exercise, and I try to get a walk in when I can. It’s not about burning calories, it’s about moving my body and helping myself feel good.
3️⃣ I stay hydrated. 💧
I’m making a conscious effort to drink enough water throughout the day because hydration is one of those simple things that can easily get pushed aside.
4️⃣ I’m mindful of caffeine. ☕️
I love my coffee, but I’ve learned that more isn’t necessarily better, especially when I’m already feeling stressed or wired.
5️⃣ I protect my sleep. 😴
Sleep is no longer something I’m willing to sacrifice just to get more done. I’m trying to create the conditions for better sleep because everything feels harder when I’m running on empty.
None of these things are revolutionary.
But sometimes looking after yourself isn’t about doing MORE.
It’s about consistently doing the simple things that help your body feel supported.
Because in this season of life, protecting my peace is part of taking care of my health. 🫶🏻
What’s one thing you’re doing to take better care of YOU right now?

👟 READY TO BEAT YOUR BASELINE? 👟
I’m hosting a FREE 14-Day Step Challenge starting August 24th! 🎉
But this is NOT your typical step challenge.
We’re not competing to see who can hit the most steps.
We’re not chasing 10,000.
And you definitely don’t need to be a “walker” to participate.
Instead, we’re starting with YOUR current average and challenging you to add just 1,000–2,000 more steps to your day.
That could mean:
✨ A 10-minute walk after dinner
✨ Walking while you’re on the phone
✨ Taking a few extra laps around the store
✨ Getting up for more movement breaks
✨ Simply being more intentional about moving throughout your day
For 14 days, we’ll track our progress in the StepUp app, get simple daily movement prompts, and encourage each other along the way.
Your steps.
Your baseline.
Your challenge. ❤️
📅 August 24 – September 6
If you’ve been wanting to move more but don’t want another challenge that makes you feel like you’re falling behind…
This one is for you. 🫶

I saw this today and really had to share it because I think so many of us need this reminder. 💓
“The fact that you still have a long way to go doesn’t diminish the value of how far you’ve already travelled.”
It’s so easy to focus on how much further we have to go.
The weight we still want to lose.
The habits we’re still trying to build.
The strength we’re still working toward.
The things we wish we had figured out by now.
But what if we also took a moment to recognize how far we’ve already come?
Every workout you showed up for.
Every time you chose a healthier option.
Every time you got back on track instead of giving up.
Every small change that has become part of your life.
That matters.
You don’t have to be at your goal to be proud of yourself.
You can acknowledge that you still have work to do AND be incredibly proud of the woman who has already taken so many steps forward.
So today, don’t just look at where you’re going.
Take a minute to look back at where you started, too. 🫶
You might be surprised by just how far you’ve come.

If you’re in your 40s, trying to lose weight, and honestly feel like you’re doing EVERYTHING right, this is for you. 👇
You’re choosing the Greek yogurt.
The granola.
The smoothie.
The oatmeal.
The “healthy” cereal.
You’re not living on junk food. You’re trying to make good choices.
So why does weight loss still feel so hard?
Sometimes it’s not that the food is “bad.” It’s that we’ve been marketed to believe certain breakfast foods are healthier, more filling, or better for weight loss than they actually are.
Some can be surprisingly high in added sugar, lower in protein and fibre, or simply not as satisfying as you need them to be.
And when you’re hungry again an hour or two later, it becomes much harder to stay consistent with your nutrition for the rest of the day.
This doesn’t mean you need to cut out carbs, fruit, yogurt, or anything else you enjoy.
It means learning how to build a breakfast that actually supports your goals.
Think protein + fibre + whole foods + enough food to keep you satisfied.
Because after 40, the answer isn’t necessarily “eat less and try harder.”
Sometimes it’s “let’s look at what you’re actually eating and make it work better for you.”
👉 Save this post and check the labels on your favourite breakfast foods tomorrow morning.
And tell me: which one surprised you the most?
