We are just two days away from the start of the 2026 Softball PEI U11 Provincial Championships!
Hosted by Northside Minor Ball Association, this weekend’s championship brings together 18 teams from across PEI. From Friday to Sunday, 12 games will be played at Ronnie MacDonald Memorial Field, including a quarterfinal, semifinal and the Championship game

Two more teams we are highlighting today playing out of Ronnie MacDonald Memorial Field this summer are the Northside Cubs U11 teams - U11 Cubs Drake and U11 Cubs Phelan.

This is the first summer of softball programming through Northside, and it’s been successful. At the U11 category, these two teams have done very well. U11 Cubs Drake are currently 4-6, while U11 Cubs Phelan are second place in the Softball PEI U11 League at 10-1, with their last regular season game this morning at 11 am (against West Royalty Rockets Doyle). U11 Cubs Drake are scheduled to play their last regular season game next Saturday, 15 August, at 9 am (also against West Royalty Rockets Doyle).

Both teams are teaming up to host the 2026 Softball PEI U11 Provincial Championships from 21-23 August 2026, using several fields, including Ronnie MacDonald Memorial Field. 18 teams from across the Island are taking part, so it will be a busy three days. Adding to the excitement is the fact both teams are playing great ball as of late, and have legitimate chances at a Provincial Championship.

2026 U11 Softball Provincials PEI Welcome to the page for the U11 Softball Provincials- Hosted by Northside Cubs Softball!

There's been lots happening at Ronnie MacDonald Memorial Field this summer!

One team we'd like to highlight is the Northside 11U "AA" Major Cubs. They currently sit in second place in the 11-team Baseball PEI 11U "AA" Major League with an 8-5 record. The team includes four players from St. Peter's Bay (plus two more whose parents are from St. Peter's).

Last night, the Cubs erased a five-run deficit to defeat the Cornwall Cougars Wood 12-10.

Adding to the excitement, local legend Bobby Fraser joined the team on the bench, keeping the players on their toes while sharing tips on how to hit the ball all the way to the church.

The next home game for the Cubs at Ronnie MacDonald Memorial Field is next Tuesday, 4 August, as they host the Summerside Chevys. First pitch is at 6:15 pm.

Buckle has been getting lots of questions about softball... and he couldn't keep this one under his berry hat any longer!

Our Co-ed Softball Tournament registration is officially open! We've had lots of inquiries, so we wanted to get the details out early. If you'd like to register a team or have any questions, please reach out to Seth!

Buckle is still putting the finishing touches on the full festival schedule, and trust us—you'll want to check it out. We've shaken things up a little this year, moved a few events around, and made some exciting changes to keep things fresh.
