MEET YOUR D-LINE COACH 💪🏈
DWYANE KUMPULA!

We’re excited to welcome Coach Dwayne Kumpula to the club for his first season with the Lions!

A former Edmonton Wildcat and University of Alberta Golden Bear, Dwayne spent his university days as a Golden Bear playing D-Line — so when it comes to battling in the trenches, he knows a thing or two!

And here’s a little club history for you… 👀
Our Head Coach actually coached against Dwayne back in 2000 — and when asked what he remembers about him, his answer was simple:

“He was a really good player.”

So apparently, this isn’t just a new coach joining the staff… it’s an old opponent joining the other side. 😂

Now coach Dwayne gets to bring that experience, knowledge and passion for the game to our athletes as he begins his first year with us.

Welcome to the Lions, Coach Dwayne! We’re pretty excited to have you in our corner. 🏈

Rounding off the Bengals staff, meet your DB coach:
CODY LANDIAK

Cody joins the team this season as a first year coach. He played with the Lions high school squad and was part of the 2023 Wheatland & Provincial championship teams. He won most improved player and shared the title of defensive player of the year in 2024. He knows that hard work, asking questions, and that small improvements every practice, is what it takes to become a better football player.

Quiet by nature, he can’t hide his excitement after big plays- the whole team will be pumped- and that’s just what this Bengals squad needs! Welcome to the jungle coach!

Introducing the LIONS Receiver/Defensive Backs coach: TY SMEREKA

Coach Ty is a familiar face to St. Paul football and this season he has joined the ranks on the coaching staff. Not only is he a SP Football alumni, he’s played for team Alberta, took part in the ABC Border Bowl rising stars game and this past season he has been playing with the Cold Lake Fighter Jets football team!

We are thrilled to have him on the bench this season sharing his passion and experience with our high school athletes. Welcome back to the team Coach!!

Meet Coach Ryan! 🏈

Or do we call him Coach McLellan 2.0?! No matter how we say it, Coach Ryan will be a big asset on our bench as an offensive assistant again this season. He’s an SP football alumni, having played both Bengals and Lions, and in 2024, committed to the Valley Huskers football club of the BCFC, and was part of the Lions provincial championship teams and was on the coaching staff for our Bengals Provincial Champions!

Coach Ryan is another great leader, bringing everything he has learned from his playing days, his dad’s coaching and his CJFL experiences to our young athletes. Thank you coach for giving back to our club, we are excited to see you on the bench for another season!

Meet Your Offensive Coordinator & QB Coach 🏈

Please welcome Coach McLellan to the Lions coaching staff!

With an impressive 17 years of coaching experience, Coach McLellan brings a wealth of knowledge to our offensive staff. He’s coached both Bengals and Lions teams and now takes on the important roles of Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach for our high school team.

And while his coaching loyalty is firmly with the Lions… we’ll give him a pass for being a Seahawks fan. 😉🏈

We’re excited to have Coach McLellan bring his experience, football knowledge and passion to our program. Welcome to the Lions family, Coach!

COACH PORSCHA- Bengals WR & Special teams coordinator

Coach porscha is no stranger to the game. She’s a provincial champion, bengals alumni, she’s played for Valkyrie female football, was part of the Wheatland RipTides inaugural season, has most recently competed for the second time with Team Alberta and this u18 female team won bronze on the national stage. I her ‘short’ football career is deceiving and the amount of talent and experience she has is something to be admired!

She is helping our Bengals team raise the bar, and showing other young ladies that tackle football isn’t just for the boys. Keep it up Coach- you’re an inspiration!
