Holiday Adventures, Part 1 ♡
Celebrated our first wedding anniversary, in the place where my heart forever lives, Lion's Head.
The same place Branden proposed, 2 years ago.
We visited the exact spot where he knelt down.
And I said HI to my special "Tim Burton" tree.
This was our 3rd Lion's Head Hike, and we finally conquered the entire 17km+ loop.
Felt like it was meant to be, as we celebrated being together 17 years.
1 km per year ♡

First hot sunny run 🔥☀️
Little slower, but consistent, fighting that kick-ass head wind 🙃
Special thanks to Herc's Nutrition St.Catharines for making the only shorts that these thick thighs dont die in 🫶🏻

My first ride of the year.
My first actual ride, in 4 years.
The freedom I felt today - I can't even put into words.
The best part, was time with him 🩷
Now I rest my little legs.

Grief is something that never truly leaves you.
Today it hit after a meeting at the bank.
I left asking myself, am I doing this right?
The one person who I'd want to ask, isn't here...
I felt I found my answer as I walked into the gym.
My Mom used to tell me how happy she was with all the amazing things running brought to my life.
She'd be so excited to hear how my races went, the beautiful people I'd met and how I'd pushed myself with another adventure.
I used this grief and anxiety to fuel my run.
I'd been feeling a little on/off about the next race....
Today I ran 5km, feeling great, and like I could have done more.
I came home to be greeted by my biggest cheerleader.
He was excited to hear how my run went - even though he texted me durin it, telling me to kick butt.
As I told him about my run, and the upcoming race - there was no hesitation in his voice of me doing it. Did I even sense a hint of excitement?
The simple thought of Branden thinking I could do it, was enough to help me solidify my answer.
So I decided to get on my mat.
Focused on strengthening what I'll need to conquer this next adventure.
Remembering how my Dad used to tell me to never let anyone tell me I couldn't do anything. Myself included.
Added bonus to it all;
Sweating in almost 30° heat - yes, inside lol.
Remember that you CAN do the HARD things.
Grief can be the most beautiful motivational thing ever..

My JOY today was making my Mama's Scalloped Potatoes.
Recipe is simple.
But the memories are full.
Mama teaching Branden and I how to make it together. Maybe even her giving me heck for my peeling skills with a pearing knife.
I will forever enJOY all my memories of and with my Mom. Sharing time making and eating dinner with my husband, even better ♡

First hike of the year was a success.
Fabulous 7.6km and over 170m elevation.
Time amongst the trees will always be my favourite 💚
