We have a shooting range for types and have a picnic area at Spear lake. We are here for the conservation of wildlife for hunters and fishers.

Obituary for Ronald (Ron) Karl Klimack | Braendle-Bruce Funeral Service 08/25/2026

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Ron Klimack, a true pillar of the Russell Game and Fish Association.
Ron was a longtime member who gave countless hours to our club. For decades he served as our secretary, and he was always ready to join in—especially when it meant a day of fishing at Spear Lake. His steady presence and dedication helped keep our association strong for so many years.
We will miss his quiet reliability and the way he showed up, meeting after meeting. Rest easy, Ron. Thank you for everything you gave to our community.

We were lucky enough to go out and visit the Youth Fishing Club at Silver Beach tonight and it was amazing. The youth were catching northern pike like crazy, the weather was amazing and adults were on top of everything. The Manitoba Wildlife Federation and the Russell Game and Fish got together and donated fishing hooks and potato chips to the eager anglers to hopefully help add to their fish count. The Youth fish on Wednesdays in June, July and August and they try to go out 8 times a summer. This is a great club and we couldn't be happier that this donation funded organization is still going strong.

The Youth Fishing Club is always looking for volunteers, so let Brent Kempthorne know if you are able to come out and give them a hand.

We were honored to go out and see the Youth Fishing Club in action at Silver Beach last night. It was an amazing night with lots of Northern Pike coming out of the water. This donation funded club is something to behold. The dedication of the adults and the enthusiasm of the youth reminds you of why we do what we do. The Russell Game and Fish teamed up with the Manitoba Wildlife Federation to donate fish hooks and chips to the young fishing enthusiasts to hopefully help add to their fish enjoyment this year.

The youth fishing club hits the water Wednesday nights from June to August with a goal of 8 total fishing nights throughout the summer. The club is always looking for help, so consider getting in touch with Brent Kempthorne if you are interested in helping out.

We look forward to many more visits and hope that the club runs for years to come. Great job to everyone who is involved.

Last night we had the privilege of presenting the Distinguished Marksmanship Trophy to the 677 Royal Canadian Air Cadets that the Russell Game and Fish sponsored. Long time member Ken Schmitz was able to attend and present the trophy on behalf of the club. It was a great night and very well attended by the community and other sponsors of the cadet program. We look forward to presenting the trophy annually to this wonderful youth organization.

Another MWF AGM is in the books. MWF had a great line up of speakers and a ton of great information on past work, future projects and battles that the hunting community will be facing! Russell Game and Fish received an amazing award for Associate Club of the Year. It was a nice surprise to be noticed for the hard work and dedication the club has shown. Thank you to all of the volunteerd that stepped up and made this happen. The club would not be moving forward in such a positive direction without you. Thank you.
