A Summer of Celebrations 🌞
This summer has felt like such a beautiful season of creating a deepening sense of belonging.
This summer we celebrated the beauty of community with a 60th birthday, a 20th Anniversary Gala for Yoga by the Sea, a wonderful community wedding, and the celebration of the recently established Yoga by the Sea Wellness Society, a non-profit umbrella for your community Yoga and Wellness center. You can read more about the society here: yogabythesea.ca/yoga-by-the-sea-wellness-society
Each Sunday @7 pm, we’ve also had the joy of gathering outdoors in a Heart Full circle behind the library for chanting, meditation, and simply being together in community. September 13th we will move back inside for the season.
I personally have spent moments with friends and family, on the water, in the forest, and around the Sunshine Coast. Reflecting on how so many of these beautiful close friends and chosen family first emerged through Yoga. Practitioners became friends, and friends became family. What a gift this has been to live and create a life here on the Sunshine Coast.
I’m also deeply moved by how much our Sunshine Coast community continues to grow and evolve through wellness and sacred offerings. There are so many inspirational and unique healing practices emerging all across the coast, sound journeys and temples, Kirtan, women’s and men’s circles, Reiki trainings, somatic movement practices, immersive Yoga trainings, Thai Massage trainings, embodied dance, energy healing with tuning forks, lots of meditation, Breathwork, a wide variety of retreats, festivals, ceremonies, spiritual gatherings, cacao rituals, Plant medicine, and so many other expressions of healing practices, the list goes on !!!
What feels especially wonderful is the collaboration that is happening. Rather than existing in separate little circles, we are beginning to see all these beautiful threads weaving together to create something much greater, a rich and diverse tapestry of community wellness healing and transformation here on the Sunshine Coast.

TEACHER SPOTLIGHT: Roxanne “Moksha” Sammartino 💙
Today we’re celebrating Roxanne, who has been part of the Yoga by the Sea teaching community since 2014!
Roxanne’s own yoga journey began in 2002, and over the years she has continued to deepen her practice through extensive training in Hatha Yoga, Yin Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Yoga Outreach, and advanced yoga studies—including both her 200-hour and 300-hour teacher trainings here at Yoga by the Sea.
For Roxanne, yoga has been a steady foundation through the many seasons and evolutions of life, helping her cultivate greater peace, clarity, presence, and gratitude.
That same intention is at the heart of her teaching. Roxanne encourages her students to connect with their breath, become present with themselves, and discover a sense of peace that extends far beyond the yoga mat and into everyday life.
As Roxanne beautifully puts it:
“Life is a Divine Leela (play); Let’s embrace our differences, support each other through challenges, learn how to laugh at ourselves, and have gratitude for the gift of life around us.”
You can currently practice with Roxanne through Hatha Flow Yoga and Yin & Yoga Nidra at Yoga by the Sea.
Thank you, Roxanne, for 12 years of teaching, learning, laughter, presence, and community. We’re incredibly grateful to have you on our team. 🙏🏽✨
