Cory has recently been appointed as the head coach of UBC Varsity Golf and has a decorated playing career, most notably making the cut at the WM Phoenix Open.

Most golfers think the answer is practice volume and technical analysis on the road. But the reality is much simpler than that.

Developing good travel habits will save you more shots than perfecting your swing ever will.

Here’s why: when everything around you changes (the course, the climate, the bed you slept in), your brain is already working overtime to adapt. The golfers who stay consistent on the road are the ones who keep something familiar intact. A morning routine. The same warmup. The same pre-shot process. The same way they approach the first tee.

When you can feel consistency in your routine even when the environment has changed, that feeling carries onto the course. Your body knows what to do because it’s done it a hundred times before, regardless of the city or time zone you’re in.

The swing will take care of itself. Protect the habits first.
