At a special RCMP Sunset Ceremony last month, we announced Special Olympics Saskatchewan as the official beneficiary of the 2028 Can-Am Police-Fire Games.

Proceeds from the 2028 Games will support Special Olympics Saskatchewan programming across the province, helping expand opportunities with various disabilities to train, complete and thrive through sport.

We’re proud to partner with an organization whose mission reflects the values at the heart of the Can-Am Police-Fire Games: service, resilience, teamwork and community.

Together, we're creating a lasting legacy that will benefit athletes and communities across Saskatchewan for years to come.

🏀 SASKATCHEWAN BASKETBALL ATHLETES BRING INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE

Two Saskatchewan basketball players. Two different journeys. One shared experience on the world stage.

For Steven Saman and McKenzie Millar, the basketball courts at the Special Olympics Canada Summer Games Medicine Hat 2026 are more than another stop in their athletic journeys.

Three years ago, the Regina athletes were thousands of kilometres away, wearing the maple leaf at the 2023 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Berlin, Germany. Saman helped Canada capture gold in men's five-on-five basketball, while Millar and Canada's women's team earned silver. Now, the two athletes are back on the national stage together as members of Team Saskatchewan's co-ed basketball contingent in Medicine Hat.

🏀 DES BASKETTEURS DE LA SASKATCHEWAN APPORTENT LEUR EXPÉRIENCE INTERNATIONALE

Deux basketteurs de la Saskatchewan. Deux parcours différents. Une expérience commune sur la scène internationale

Pour Steven Saman et McKenzie Millar, les terrains de basket des Jeux d’été d’Olympiques spéciaux Canada 2026 à Medicine Hat représentent bien plus qu’une simple étape de leur parcours sportif.

Il y a trois ans, ces athlètes de Regina se trouvaient à des milliers de kilomètres de là, arborant la feuille d’érable lors des Jeux d’été d’Olympiques spéciaux mondiaux 2023 à Berlin, en Allemagne. Saman a aidé le Canada à remporter la médaille d’or en basket-ball masculin à cinq contre cinq, tandis que Millar et l’équipe féminine canadienne ont décroché celle d’argent. Aujourd’hui, les deux athlètes sont de retour ensemble sur la scène nationale en tant que membres de la délégation mixte de basket-ball de l’équipe de la Saskatchewan à Medicine Hat.
