Over the weekend, the 2026 Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum Induction Ceremony took place, and longtime Baseball Saskatchewan umpire Trevor Drury of Outlook was officially inducted into the Hall of Fame.

It is a tremendous and well-deserved honour for someone who has dedicated decades to baseball, umpiring, leadership, and the development of officials across Saskatchewan and Canada.

Trevor’s impact on the game is extensive. He served two terms as Baseball Saskatchewan Provincial Supervisor, totaling eight years, and has continued to contribute as a clinic instructor, evaluator, committee member, mentor, and on-field official.

His résumé on the field speaks for itself. Trevor has umpired games from 11U through the Western Canadian Baseball League, along with experience in the former Canadian Baseball League and Golden Baseball League.

He has also represented Baseball Canada on the international stage, including:

2010 World Youth Championships – Thunder Bay
2015 18U World Championships – Osaka, Japan — 1st Base, Gold Medal Game
2017 18U World Championships – Thunder Bay, Ontario

Trevor has umpired at 8 National Championships, participated in 2 Tournament 12/Blue Jays Showcase events, and supervised 11 National Championships, consistently receiving Outstanding ratings. In 2019, he stepped in as crew chief at the 21U National Championship on short notice, earning an Accomplished rating and the Gold Medal Plate.

His commitment to developing umpires may be his greatest legacy. Trevor has been an exceptional mentor to countless officials, helping umpires throughout Saskatchewan reach higher levels of officiating, including national and international assignments. He has also played a major role in developing umpires and supporting baseball in his hometown of Outlook.

His dedication has been recognized throughout his career:

2003 – Baseball Saskatchewan Senior Official of the Year
2019 – Baseball Canada Dick Willis Memorial Award

The Dick Willis Memorial Award is Baseball Canada’s highest national honour for an umpire and recognizes leadership, excellence, and commitment to the officiating program.

From driving hours to work a game, to leading a clinic, evaluating an umpire, or sharing advice between innings, Trevor has always been willing to give back to the game.

Congratulations, Trevor, on your induction into the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum.

The Baseball Sask Umpire Committee would like to wish Mike Smith (Umpire) and Philip McGee (Supervisor) the best of luck as they head to Fort McMurray, Alberta, for the 2026 18U Baseball Canada National Championship!

Mike and Philip are heading north for an adventure that will require teamwork, leadership, and the ability to handle whatever the championship throws their way. Fortunately, like Pinky and the Brain, they make quite the team — although we’re not entirely sure which one is which!

With Mike calling the action on the field and Philip helping support the umpiring crew, Saskatchewan will have two outstanding representatives on the national stage.

Have a fantastic championship, gentlemen. Travel safe, enjoy the experience, and represent Saskatchewan with pride!

100+ YEARS OF UMPIRING EXPERIENCE… AND STILL GOING STRONG!

After some very scientific calculations using an Atticus — a device we’re pretty sure a couple of these guys were using back when they sat beside Jesus and Santa Claus in Grade 3 — we’ve determined that this crew has OVER 100 YEARS of combined umpiring experience.

With that much experience, these guys have probably seen just about everything a baseball diamond can throw at them. They’ve accumulated countless innings, arguments, rotations, close plays, balks and stories along the way.

This veteran crew worked the Senior Provincial Championships in Moose Jaw this weekend, bringing more than a century of combined umpiring experience to the field.

100+ years of experience.
3 umpires.
1 crew.
And enough baseball knowledge to fill several Atticuses.

Great work, gentlemen! Baseball Saskatchewan Umpires appreciates the experience, dedication and passion you continue to bring to the game.

It’s time to play the music… it’s time to light the lights…

The Baseball Sask Umpire Committee would like to wish Elemer Jerkovits the best of luck as he represents Saskatchewan at the 2026 22U Baseball Canada National Championship in Tecumseh, Ontario!

If you’ve ever worked a tournament with Elemer, you know there’s never a dull moment. Whether it’s sharing a story, delivering a perfectly timed one-liner, or keeping the crew laughing between games, he could probably fit right in with the cast of The Muppet Show.

Thankfully, when it’s game time, Elemer knows when to trade the comedy for concentration. His experience, professionalism, and love of the game have earned him this opportunity to officiate on the national stage.

So as Kermit would say…

“It’s time to raise the curtain on another great championship!”

The Baseball Sask Umpire Committee would like to congratulate Scott Mills (Saskatoon) on his appointment as the Lead Supervisor of Umpires for the 2026 Baseball Canada 19U Women’s National Championship in Saskatoon.

Much like Obi-Wan Kenobi, Scott’s leadership, experience, and calm presence have helped guide and mentor countless umpires along their journey. As the Lead Supervisor, he’ll once again be there to provide wisdom, support, and direction when it’s needed most.

As Obi-Wan once said, “The Force will be with you… always.” We know Scott will be a steady presence throughout the championship as he helps ensure the next generation of umpires is set up for success.

Professor Farnsworth would call this assignment “scientifically excellent,” Leela would trust him to make the right call under pressure, and even Bender would have to admit that earning a national championship assignment takes some serious skill… before reminding everyone that the celebration should include a stop at Arby’s because, after all, they have the meats!
