Why assemble furniture and make breakfast ourselves when we have such capable little helpers? From tightening screws and figuring out how pieces fit together to cooking up breakfast in the kitchen, thereโs always a job to be done! ๐จ ๐ณ
Little do they know, theyโre building problem-solving skills, independence, confidence and imagination while theyโre at it.

Thereโs something so nostalgic about a parachute. ๐
The bright colours, the giggles, and running underneath before it floated back down brought back so many childhood memories. Some of the simplest games are the ones worth passing on to the next generation. โค๏ธ

Employee Spotlight: Ms. Shelley, Quesnel Pre-K @ St. Ann's
This spring, Ms. Shelley moved to Quesnel and we were delighted with the opportunity to have her join us first, at West Quesnel Day School for several months before moving to her new location, Quesnel Pre-K @ St. Ann's in July. Shelley is a licensed ECE and also has her Infant/Toddler and Special Needs Certifications. Shelley is not only skilled and certified, she is kind, caring and we love watching her be silly with the kiddos. She doesnโt take herself too seriously and itโs a pleasure watching her engage with the children.
Please join us in welcoming Ms. Shelley not only to our daycare, but also to Quesnel.
"Hello, my name is Shelley Paige. Working and caring for children and their families is what I have been doing for over 20 years. I have 2 grown children in their 20s. And a few fur babies.
I have a diploma for early childhood education from Grant MacEwan University . I have taken numerous courses workshops and training all related to the early childhood education field. My first work experience way back when I was in high school was in a daycare center and I knew then I wanted to be working in a daycare setting.
I like that no day is ever the same. I treasure the moments I share with everyone around me while working in a daycare setting. Also the relationships that I have formed with the various children and their families during the years are very rewarding for me.
Over the years I have developed my own personal philosophy. I believe that children are our future, I believe that parents are the most important teachers and caregivers of their children, I believe I am an advocate for all children and that we should let the childrenโs laughter remind of us all of when we were small.
I have just recently moved to Quesnel. I am enjoying exploring the city and all the nature. I am excited to join the team at St. Annโs. A healthy balance of child-lead, play based and structured learning is what I will strive for while developing relationships with the children and their families. Happy to be starting this new chapter." Shelley

๐ Spaghetti, anyone?! ๐
Our sensory fun continues with a big bowl of spaghetti! The children can scoop, serve, twirl and create their own silly spaghetti dishes, all while building fine motor skills and using their imaginations.
Sometimes the best play is the simplest!

August Curriculum | The 5 Senses
This month, the children will be learning all about how we see, hear, touch, smell and taste the world around us.
Through play, children will build vocabulary, strengthen early literacy and math skills, make predictions, experiment, observe and, most importantly, get curious about how their world works.
We encourage the families enrolled with us to piggyback on our theme this month with your own activities and conversations with your children at home.
At Quesnel Pre-K and West Quesnel Day School, learning is meant to be touched, explored, questioned and discovered. ๐
Explore. Discover. Grow.
