It’s been amazing to see the support and respect shown to our community and our property. 💙
Thank you to everyone who has come out to pick blueberries and enjoy a little piece of summer with us. We took a walk through the patch tonight and were so happy and proud to see that there wasn’t a single piece of garbage left behind and no damage to the property. That means so much to us!
And somehow, after all the people who have come out, there hasn’t even really been a dent made in the blueberries! 😅🫐
So if you haven’t made it out yet, there are still lots to pick. Come enjoy the last few weeks of summer, take in the views, support the Salmon Valley community groups who truly put on the best events for everyone, and fill up on blueberries while they’re here! 💙🫐

🐴 Fall/Winter Boarding Update 🐴
Still looking for a perfect match!
We have welcomed one new boarder and horse and now have only 2 spots remaining for fall/winter boarding at SVS Ranch!
Life gets busy, and sometimes it’s nice to have a place where you can be a little more hands off while still knowing your horse is receiving quality, consistent care. Our facility is a great option for owners who want peace of mind knowing their horse is well looked after, even when they can’t make it out every day.
We offer a quiet, small-facility atmosphere with an arena, trails, and plenty of space to enjoy with your horse. Whether you’re riding regularly or simply want your horse somewhere they’ll be cared for and comfortable, we’d love to chat.
Only 2 winter spots available, so reach out if you’re interested! ❤️

🌾 We’re pretty impressed with our land right now!
Our neighbour hayed our front field for us, which is just over 2 acres, and we ended up with 12 bales coming up😍 We also had 25 bales come off the 5-acre field we call the Top Field a few weeks ago.
Both fields were reseeded last year after we worked them up, disced and rototilled them, seeded and rolled them, and then let them establish and grow without taking a crop. So seeing 37 bales come off these two fields is pretty exciting!
A huge shoutout to our neighbour Jamie Simkins for doing the haying for us. We really appreciate you taking the time to help us out and turn all the work we put into these fields last year into a pretty impressive crop. 🌾🙌
We’re definitely feeling pretty lucky with what we’ve got here at SVS Ranch. ❤️

A little update on our blueberry picking 💙🫐
We honestly didn’t expect this at all! Over the last two days, we’ve collected almost $100 in donations, and we’re so grateful to everyone who has come out to pick and contribute.
We’ve decided to share the donations between three of our local community groups: the Salmon Valley Gymkhana Club, the Salmon Valley Community Association, and the Salmon Valley Community Farmer’s Institute. All three put on such great events and do so much for our community throughout the year, so it feels really good to be able to give a little something back. ❤️
This has turned into something we’d love to make a tradition at the ranch, and we’ll definitely be looking at doing it again next year!
And don’t worry, there are still blueberries. A LOT of blueberries. 😂 We’ll have berries available from about mid-July right through to mid-September, so there’s lots of time to come out.
Honestly, after the amount of berries that are still out there, I don’t think we’ve even made a dent. 😂🫐
Thank you to everyone who has helped us turn something we never could have picked ourselves into a fun little way to give back to our community! 💙

Yes… we STILL have blueberries! 🫐😂
A few people have messaged asking if there are any left, and I don’t think everyone is quite grasping the amount of blueberries we have. We have acres and acres of wild blueberries almost ten acres of them! And far, far more than we could ever pick ourselves.
So yes, there are still LOTS. 😂🫐
One little heads-up if you come out: we are primarily a horse boarding ranch, so you may see a horse and rider come through the trails while you’re picking. Don’t be startled! Just step out of the bush for a moment so they can see you, and let them pass by. 🐴
Bring a bucket, and feel free to enjoy the picnic table up at the blueberry patch or take a walk through the trails while you’re here. And don’t forget we do have an outhouse on site.
We just ask for a small donation to the local Gymkhana Club if you’re able. 💙
Message me for directions!
And don’t forget to check out the Salmon Valley Campground treat shack hours and grab yourself a cookie and a coffee on your way here!!

Reminder!!! There no limit and this is a great way to save cost and make sure your horse gets the most of their hay this winter
SVS Ranch is hosting an Equine Float Day this September with the vets from West Winds Veterinary right here at the ranch!
Regular dental care is an important part of keeping your horse healthy, especially heading into the winter months. Properly aligned teeth allow horses to chew their hay and feed more effectively, which means they can get more nutrition from what they eat and have an easier time maintaining their weight.
Wondering if your horse might need a float?
Some signs to watch for include:
• Difficulty maintaining weight or losing weight despite eating well
• Dropping partially chewed hay or feed while eating
• Chewing more slowly or seeming to struggle with hay
• Leaving long or unchewed pieces of hay behind
• Difficulty eating grain or certain feeds
• Excessive salivation
• Bad breath
• Swelling or sensitivity around the face or jaw
• Resistance or discomfort when having their head handled
• Head tossing or other changes in behaviour while eating or being ridden
• Trouble keeping food in their mouth
• A change in eating habits or suddenly becoming picky
And sometimes there are no obvious signs at all. Horses are very good at adapting to dental discomfort, so regular dental checks are important even when everything seems normal.
Getting your horse’s teeth looked at before winter can help make sure they are able to properly utilize the hay you’re feeding and get the most nutrition possible from it.

🫐🚽🌲 Because apparently we’re getting serious about this blueberry operation… 😂
For those of you who have been coming out to pick blueberries, especially those who have never been out to the ranch before, yes, we are out of town! And while there are outhouses about 7 minutes up the road, we decided you shouldn’t have to make the trek every time nature calls. 😂
So yes, we have an outhouse right here at the ranch! 🚽🤣
And while you’re out there, we’ve also got a picnic table right at the blueberry patch. So bring your buckets, take your time, have a little picnic, and enjoy the property while you’re here! 🫐🌲
We may be rural, but we’re trying to keep things convenient. 😂
Come pick some blueberries, enjoy the fresh air, have a seat, and make an afternoon of it! ❤️
And don’t forget to check out the Salmon Valley Campground treat shack hours and grab yourself a cookie and a coffee on your way here!!

🌲🐴 A little ride around the ranch today! 🐴🌲
Today, Quinn and I rode one of my favourite loops, the outside trail that takes you all the way around the property. We also cut across the middle and rode through both of the springs on the top of the property, which always makes for a fun little adventure!
We’ve recently discovered a natural land bridge and cut a new section of trail so you can get across without having to go through the muck. 🙌 It’s always exciting finding new ways to connect our trails and make the riding even better!
The whole ride was just over an hour and definitely gave us a good workout with all the ups and downs. Lots of hills, beautiful forest, and plenty to keep you and your horse working. 🌲💪🐴
One of the things I love most about riding here is that even after all this time, we’re still discovering new trails and new ways to explore our own property. ❤️

🫐 HOLY MOLY! 🫐
The response to our blueberries post has been absolutely AMAZING! Thank you so much to everyone who has come out and picked so far. ❤️
We have SO many blueberries here at the ranch, way more than we could ever possibly pick ourselves, so we’re loving being able to share them with everyone while also giving a little back to our community.
And the best part? There isn’t even a dent made yet! 😂 There are still TONS left, so there’s lots for everyone!
Come on out, pick some blueberries, enjoy the beautiful property, and help us make a dent in this blueberry jungle! 🫐🌿
Thank you again to everyone who has stopped by, we really appreciate it! ❤️
