Canadian Challenge Sled Dog Race

RACE FORMAT

This year we will see the Return of the 300 mile distance as 12 dog race and a Return to the Northern Route and the wonderful community of Grand Mothers Bay

We will continue the 200 mile 10 dog

Both will be a continuous race

And to round out the formats we will have an 8 dog 100. Mile race over 2 days

Well, that's it for now folks. Today is our last day doors are open. The support and patronage in the last couple weeks has been incredible, and myself and the staff will miss welcoming you in.

Doors are open today, albeit a little later start (8:30am) and we have run out of our lunch menu items. We still have baking and drinks and welcome you in one last time.

As we mark the 30th Anniversary of National Indigenous Peoples Day, we take time to recognize that the Canadian Challenge race trails travel through Treaty 6 and Treaty 6A territory. Treaty 6 will mark 150 years this August, and Treaty 6A (adhesion) was signed in 1889 on the shores of Montreal Lake at Molanosa.

We acknowledge and thank the stewards of this land for allowing us to travel these trails, and we honour the deep connections Indigenous peoples have carried with this land for generations.

As part of the Canadian Challenge Sled Dog Race, we are proud to continue in the spirit of tradition. Respecting the land and honouring the traditional relationship between dog and musher, a connection rooted in trust, care, and partnership.

Today, we celebrate, reflect, and stand together in respect and appreciation.

Planning is well under way for the upcoming 2027 race.

I got involved in the dog sled world when my daughter Monroe (Musher Moe) started handling for Garrick when he ran his first 100 mile race several years ago. Now I'm seen at the races doing handling duties for multiple teams and helping anyone out that needs a hand
I consider The Canadian Challenge our home race. And looking forward to what this new rejuvenated board has in store.

I'm Brittany North, I'm from the North Shore of Minnesota. I've been in the mushing world for over a decade as a race volunteer, board member, and handler. My story is similar to many mushers, it all started with one dog, which has now turned into a small kennel of 10 dogs. One of my passions is keeping the lifestyle of mushing alive in a modern world. Aside from mushing, I have professional experience in marketing, social media, and video production. I'm excited to share my passion and skills with the Canadian Challenge team.
