This morning, I decided to do an “I once was” project. I asked each resident what they did for a living and what they loved doing… these were their responses.

May we look at each resident and see hard work, dedication and commitment. They were once young, full of dreams and had a lifetime ahead of them, now they get to look back and see a life filled with love, hard work, laughter, challenges and memories.🤍🤍

Today we had a great time learning how to make Mexican guacamole. Thanks for teaching us Carmen!

A few years ago, a kind friend of the Herb Bassett Home donated some small fruit trees for our back courtyard, which, at the time, was a barren piece of grass with no purpose.

Today, we noticed that the apple tree was brimming with beautiful apples!

Our residents really enjoyed picking fruit, grown in our own yard!

Everything we do - we do to bring joy, to nurture reminders of home and to honor traditions that were (and are) an important part of our lives!

We will be preserving some of these apples for our upcoming Fall supper, featuring vegetables (and fruit!) grown in our HBH gardens.

A global picnic to soak in the last couple days of what feels like summer!☀️🌈🤍

Today we took in the fair! we enjoyed watching chuckwagon and chariot races, watching the little kids on the rides and enjoyed some icecream & spudnuts🎡🎠.

An outing to Wakaw Lake! one of our care aids Morris, invited us to his beautiful home away from home. We had a fun afternoon playing games, enjoyed a weiner roast lunch and ended it off with some delicious icecream. Thanks for making it feel like we were camping at the lake again🏕🍦🔥🌭

A gloomy day means we bring the brightness into the home! 🌈
