As part of our 50th Anniversary celebrations, we're shining a spotlight on the people who helped build the magic. From founders and athletes to leaders and storytellers, these are the individuals whose passion, dedication, and vision helped shape Spruce Meadows into what it is today. We wouldnât be here without themâand itâs time to say thank you. First up:
Linda Southern-HeathcottâFrom the Saddle to the Helm
Some people grow up at Spruce Meadows.
Linda Southern-Heathcott grew up with it.
Early on, Mr. and Mrs. Southern determined that the building of Spruce Meadows was for the community. As one of the daughters who inspired the very creation of Spruce Meadows, Lindaâs journey started in the saddleâand led all the way to the top of the podium, and then to the top of the organization.
She was a competitive rider, an Olympian, a fierce competitor who understood what this place could mean to athletes around the world. But her greatest legacy may be what she has built as a leader.
Since becoming President & CEO in 2006, Linda has carried forward her familyâs visionâwhile fearlessly leading Spruce Meadows into a new era. From expanding our international reach, to building Cavalry FC, to protecting the values that make this place special, she has never wavered in her commitment to excellence, tradition, and community.
She doesnât just manage Spruce Meadows.
She protects it. She lives it. She is it.
To Lindaâthank you for leading with passion, with conviction, and with a love for this place that runs deeper than words can say. Weâre proud to celebrate 50 years alongside you. đ
