Greater Self-Discipline and Self-Control for Kids 04/05/2016

Children should be encouraged to take up martial arts classes because the art not just helps with self-defense, but offers much more. Greater self-confidence and self-discipline are the major advantages of martial arts for kids. Learning martial arts is difficult and calls for a lot of dedication and commitment. It takes years of practice to master the nuances of the art, which requires a lot of self-discipline on the part of the learner. Self-Discipline with Martial Arts The first step of martial arts training is the commitment, which means your kid will have to lead a disciplined life to stick to the rules set out as per the course. It teaches them to lead a devoted, disciplined life because while learning any form of martial arts like karate or kung fu, certain principles have to be followed. Apart from practicing hard, children will have to follow an exercise and diet regimen to keep their body fit. Martial arts for kids also focuses on mental training, which can be achieved throu

Important Notice Regarding Spring Break 03/04/2016

It’s that time of year again where public schools close for Spring break and École Des Pionniers is unavailable to us from March 14th to the 29th inclusive. Unfortunately that means that we will not have access to the school for most of our classes. Also, the week of March 28th to April 2nd 2016, Mr. John, Miss John and myself will be at our Spring National Tournament in Las Vegas for important training and testing that will help us to become a more rounded and self sufficient club. Mr. John will be testing for his 4th degree Black Belt (which at this level can only be done at a national event) and Miss John and myself will be taking a course that will allow us to better train and certify our students. I have been trying to arrange possible time in the school during some of the off time, however it is very expensive to have the door opened for us as I am not allowed to have a key. Then there is the alarm (which is usually not a problem), that is set much earlier when the school is

Stretching in Martial Arts 01/08/2016

Achieving flexibility is an important part of any fitness regime. We need to develop the body s ability to flex because flexibility plays a key role in our daily life. Even the most simplest of tasks require our bodies to be flexible. For instance, if you had to lift a box or a sack of potatoes, you will need flexibility. Strength alone isn t enough. Without flexibility, our bodies become rigid and even small tasks can seem hard and become painful. Which leads us to the benefits of stretching. There are several workouts out there that can help you with gaining greater flexibility, but one of the beat techniques to get flexible comes from learning martial art stretching exercises. Martial arts teaches your body to relax and trains every muscle in the body, resulting in great overall flexibility. Here are some martial arts stretching techniques that you can incorporate into your daily fitness routine: The V Stretch This stretching technique is done by sitting on the ground and stretchin

Happy New Year! 01/02/2016

Well, another year is fast coming to a close! There have been many belts achieved, including the induction of two new Black Belts earlier this December. I am also pleased that the club banded together to give a needy family a better Christmas. We have so much and it’s wonderful to be able to help those less fortunate. 2016 looks great from where I am standing. The instructors and myself are ready to help everyone set goals and most importantly, help them be realized!! I believe we have a great group and together we can have another great year. See you all on January 5th. Mrs. John School Owner ATA Martial Arts – Tricities
