Terry Fox Run Pictou 08/12/2026

Join the Terry Fox Run - Pictou FB/Insta pages and help raise funds for cancer

Terry Fox was only 21 years old when he ran the Marathon of Hope, an initiative of his own making, to raise awareness and money for cancer research. Though he intended to run across Canada, Terry was forced to stop just outside Thunder Bay, Ontario on September 1, 1980, after running 5,373 kilometers over 143 days. His bone cancer had returned and spread to his lungs.

Terry's bravery and perseverance inspired the nation to take action. Since 1980, communities across Canada have been running in his name to raise funds for cancer research and to continue his legacy.

Pictou has been hosting a Terry Fox Run since day one and has grown into one of the top fundraising runs in Nova Scotia. Last year, we raised over $23,000. This year, we hope to raise $25,000!

Follow our run page and join our team to help us reach this ambitious goal.
