Laugh along with the earth and revel in the bounty of fresh local produce, house plants and perennial favourites. Shelagh McGuinty and Heather Hansgen

Shelagh McGuinty and Heather Hansgen both have large perennial flower gardens in the Village of Lanark. They also both work on a massive family vegetable garden on the banks of the Mississippi just of the road to Ferguson Falls. Their gardens are organic.

Hello everyone and Happy Spring! Shelagh here. After much thought, I've decided to take a year off from selling transplants and vegetables. That means I will not be at the Almonte Farmers' Market this year. Thinking about the market makes me feel so happy and so grateful to be a part of that community! I plan on returning next year. This year I'm working on some house and garden projects that will enhance my productivity and capabilities! A few years ago my partner and I bought an old house on the edge of Lanark Village and we've been fixing it up and developing gardens. One of the projects we hope to make major progress on this year is our kitchen. Here is some of what we found under several layers of old flooring!

All right everyone - we are moving into a new phase. We are no longer accepting online orders. Thanks so much for your interest and best of luck with your plants.

However we do still have some choice plants left in limited quantities but these will be available at our booth at the Almonte Farmers' Market when it opens this Saturday. Happy gardening gang!

Finally - the warmer weather is here and so is the Victoria Day weekend. We have been a bit surprised and even overwhelmed by the response to our online ordering. Gardening is COOL again! We have sold out of a number of items and so have new updated plant lists. Our plants are still a bit small and need to harden off outside before they will be ready to plant - don't worry there is still lots of time. Driveway pick up is just starting and is working well - but oh how I miss seeing you all and talking about plants.

It is spring! And gardening fever is running high. We will be running an online plant sale this year. Delivery is available in Lanark County for $5 or we can schedule a free plant pickup on the driveway at 138 George St. in Lanark Village. You can place an order through email to [email protected] or here on Facebook. We prefer payment by e transfer but cash in an envelope is acceptable as well. Our current plant lists are attached to this post but be aware that some supplies are limited. If you would like easier to read versions of the lists sent to you just provide your email. We are only selling vegetables, herbs and edible plants at this time. We will start taking orders immediately but delivery will begin after May 10 when the weather is warmer and the plants are bigger.

In an uncertain time, we are finding hope and enjoyment as we plan our gardens, start our seeds and see the first green sprouts that offer so much promise for the future.

We will be there with lovely house plants, dried herbs, savoury crackers, maple granola and winter veg (and some sweet treats too!)

Tis the season to stock your cupboards and stuff your stockings - and we will have the perfect selection for you at our special Holiday Market this Saturday.
