Life is the ultimate obstacle course.

Every challenge demands something different. Sometimes it's strength. Sometimes it's courage. But often, it's finding the right balance.

Just like on the course, rushing isn't always the answer. Stay focused, adjust your footing, trust yourself, and keep moving forward. Every obstacle life throws at you is another opportunity to grow stronger.

Find your balance. Face the obstacle. Keep moving.

One week later, the memories are still fresh. The first edition of the Western Canada OCR Open was everything we hoped for and more.

A weekend filled with challenges, obstacles, teamwork, determination, and a community of racers pushing their limits at Okanagan Warriors Adventure.

From the first athlete on the start line to the last one crossing the finish line, every moment represented what OCR is all about: embracing the unknown, overcoming obstacles, and proving to yourself that you can do more.

We learned a lot, we grew, and we are already working on making the 2027 edition bigger, better, and even more memorable.

A massive thank you to all racers, volunteers, sponsors, partners, and everyone who believed in this first chapter. Without you, the WCOO would not exist.

This is only the beginning.
See you July 3–4, 2027 for the next chapter of the Western Canada OCR Open.

Gratitude 🙏🏼

It has been a week since the first edition of the Western Canada OCR Open, and I (Jeff) still can't express how grateful and proud I am.

Throughout my life, I've always pushed my limits, physically, mentally, and through the challenges of building a business. But one thing I've learned is that while you can achieve a lot on your own, the best things are built with others.

This was my first time being a Race Director and organizing an event of this scale (with the incredible support of Tom Petryshen from Obstacle Sports Canada). With nearly 200 racers and volunteers, there were many moments before and during, when I wondered, "What am I doing?".

When you organize an event like this, you carry more than logistics. You carry people's trust. Their time. Their energy. Your reputation is on the line, and all you hope is that everyone leaves feeling it was worth it. (I mean, some people crossed canada to come and race!).

Thankfully... they did.

You can never please everyone, but the feedback from racers, volunteers, and sponsors has been overwhelming. The Western Canada OCR Open has already become a must-do event for many in 2027, and that means more than I can put into words.

What made me the proudest wasn't the race itself, it was the community.

Over and over, people told me they felt welcomed. They felt connected. They felt part of something bigger. In a world where genuine communities are becoming rare, that is probably the greatest compliment we could receive.

I always tell people during our bootcamps and team-building events:

"Alone you go faster. Together you go further."

Last weekend, I didn't just say those words, I lived them.

This picture represents exactly that. Racers and volunteers depend on each other. One cannot exist without the other. Both matter. Both make the experience possible.

To every volunteer, racer, sponsor, spectator, and supporter: thank you for believing in this vision.

The OCR community is back in the Okanagan... and we're just getting started.

See you next year, or even better, at Okanagan Warriors Adventure before then.

Jeff
