Today, we are incredibly proud to congratulate the 2026 Rankin Memorial Scholarship recipients:

🎓 Ally McLaren

Congratulations to two outstanding young leaders whose dedication to volunteerism, community involvement, and helping others truly stood out.

This was a record-breaking year for applications, making it one of the most competitive scholarship years to date. Our volunteer evaluation committee had the challenging task of reviewing an exceptional group of applicants. As one evaluator shared:

“In years past, it’s been easy to separate the volunteers from the pack. This year, it was incredibly difficult.”

To ensure a fair process, every application was evaluated through an anonymous review process. Applicants’ names and identifying information were removed before the evaluation committee reviewed and scored each submission, allowing every application to be assessed solely on its merits.

These scholarships exist because of the generosity and legacy of the many individuals and families whose memorial funds make this program possible. Their belief in the value of volunteerism continues to inspire and support the next generation of community leaders.

To Marianne and Ally, congratulations on this well-deserved recognition. Your commitment to serving others has already made a meaningful difference, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact you’ll continue to make in your communities and beyond.

This Saturday!

🌸Join us at the 2nd Annual Bloom Market this Saturday, June 27th for a wonderful makers market located at the Rankin Culture & Recreation Centre, from 10AM - 3PM!

🌸Over 40+ makers, artisans and small businesses will be available to shop local from!

🌸Raffle prizes to win, swag bags to the first few visitors through the door, music, food and more!

🌸This is a family-friendly event, and the venue is accessible by wheelchair, stroller, wagon, walker. Public washrooms available and free parking!

🌸Admission is a monetary donation towards our local Ontario SPCA and Humane Society Renfrew County Animal Centre and Valley Animal Rescue (minimum $2 - children under 12 are free entry) 🐾

We want to recognize and sincerely thank Josh Verch for 11 years of dedicated service to this community. For over a decade, Josh has given countless volunteer hours, leadership, problem-solving, and care to help keep this centre running. Community spaces survive because people step up year after year, and we are incredibly grateful for everything he has contributed to Rankin.

As we move into this next chapter, we are still actively looking for volunteers and leads in several important areas, including:

This centre belongs to the community, and its future will be built by the people willing to invest in it together.

Huge thank you to all of the incredible community members who have come together the past few weekends to host such amazing events at the Rankin Culture & Recreation Centre.

From the euchre tournament that brought everyone together, to the recent fundraiser with proceeds supporting both the Rankin Rec Centre and the CHEO Foundation. Your time, effort, and generosity do not go unnoticed. These events take a lot of planning and heart, and it truly shows.

From organizing and volunteering to attending and supporting each other you’ve helped bring our hall to life in the best way possible. It’s inspiring to see our community come together with such kindness and support.

Because of you, the Centre continues to be a place filled with connection, laughter, and lasting memories. We are so grateful for everything you’ve done and continue to do to support the centre.
