Now that the dust has settled and the oval is buttoned back up until next year, we would like to extend our gratitude to every business that sponsored our event, the club members-some of whom became so on the spot- for organizing track work and prepping hard for race weekend, our great team of volunteers that came in and set to task like pros, the Pemberton Off Road Rebels for sharing gear, and every single community member that came out to check out the action over the weekend and cheered everyone on!
A special shout out to Kassidy- our MC and Jr Pitboss- for the work she put into preparing everything she was going to say and getting into such a great groove interacting with the crowd and racers and keeping everyone engaged on both sides of the fence!

The 2nd Annual Toby Charette Memorial Race was a great time, and is just a taste of what we have in the works for next season, see you all next year!

Good Morning!

Due to mechanical issues in an already thin pack of cars, and rain having the potential to make the track a slick mess that the cars can't run safely on, we have decided to make today- Sunday July 26 2026- a fun little Test & Tune day for the remaining racers

Please feel free to still come and watch if you want!

Don't forget snacks, water and umbrellas!

Pemberton speedway sends condolences to Flamboro speedway and the family of Doug Maclean. Rip Mr. Flagger. Your dedication to the sport does not go unnoticed.

The racing community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of longtime Flamboro Speedway flagman and former racer Doug MacLean, who passed away following a tragic on-track accident Saturday night during the Christmas in July event at Flamboro Speedway.

Located in Millgrove, Ontario, just west of Hamilton, Flamboro Speedway has been a cornerstone of Canadian grassroots racing since opening in 1961. The historic 1/3-mile paved oval has hosted generations of racers and fans, featuring weekly stock car competition and serving as one of Ontario's premier short tracks for more than six decades. For many competitors and officials, Flamboro isn't just a race track—it's family.

According to Flamboro Speedway co-owner John Casale, the accident occurred just after 9 p.m. during a feature race when two cars were battling for position and one became airborne, striking the track's starter's stand where MacLean was officiating. He was transported to Hamilton General Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

In a statement released, Flamboro Speedway said:

"On behalf of Flamboro Speedway we would like to address the incident that took place Saturday night. Unfortunately following the incident that occurred during a feature event, our Flagman Doug MacLean has passed away. At this time out of the respect for the family there are no further details but we will update everyone once we can. Our thoughts and prayers are with Doug's family, friends and racing community at this time. Forever in our hearts Flagman Doug. 🏁"

MacLean spent decades around Flamboro Speedway, first as a driver and later as one of its most respected flagmen. Earlier this year, he was inducted into the Flamboro Speedway Hall of Fame, recognizing his lifelong dedication to the sport and the speedway he proudly called home.

Casale described MacLean as "a hell of a nice person" who loved racing and everyone involved in it. In more than 54 years at the speedway, Casale said this is the first fatal incident the facility has experienced.

Saturday night's racing program was canceled following the accident. The Ontario Ministry of Labour has assumed the investigation, with the cars involved and the starter's stand secured while investigators work to determine exactly what happened.

The entire motorsports community extends its deepest condolences to Doug MacLean's family, friends, fellow officials, competitors, and everyone at Flamboro Speedway. His passion for racing, dedication to the sport, and unwavering positivity touched generations and will never be forgotten.

Rest in peace, Flagman Doug. 🖤🏁
