The Parrsboro Golf Club is deeply saddened by the passing of Art Atkinson, one of the most significant and dedicated members our club has ever known.

Art served the club for many years as an executive member and Greens Chair, he was passionate about the course, endlessly committed to its upkeep, and generous beyond measure with both his time and money. If something needed doing, Art didn’t just talk about it — he showed up, rolled up his sleeves, and got to work (sometimes under the scowl of Andy or one of his brothers). For years he also organized and fundraised for The Open, ensuring it became, and stayed, one of the top pro-ams in the province.

Art had a rare gift for finding value where others might not. He could stretch the life out of a piece of equipment like no one else, hunt down the best deals, and make sure every last dollar worked for the good of the club. His pride in the course was evident in every fairway, green, and improvement made under his watch.

Beyond his contributions, Art was a true friend to many. His legendary “arguments” with his brothers and fellow executive members — always spirited, always passionate — are remembered with smiles and laughter. They were part of who he was, both at the club and in general: someone who cared deeply, was kind and generous, and wasn’t afraid to speak up when it mattered.

Art leaves behind a legacy that will be felt at the Parrsboro Golf Club for generations. We are sure he and Johnny have reunited at the “Big Clubhouse”

Don’t forget, The Parrsboro Golf Club's FALL AGM, including election of officers, is today at 1:00 at the PGC.

Congratulations to the 2025 Parrsboro Open Champ, Eric Banks! Shooting 61-65 over two days in super tough conditions. Also, congrats to low amateur Matt Cormier. Scores and results will be posted tomorrow.

Final groups are off on another beautiful day at the PGC.
