We are receiving a HIGH VOLUME of messages from parents who have not completed this requirement.

⚠️ THE COACH/VOLUNTEER SHIFT FORWARD COURSE IS NOT THE SAME COURSE.

If you completed The Shift Forward as a coach, volunteer, trainer, manager, official, etc., you STILL need to complete the separate PARENT/GUARDIAN VERSION for your child.

Paradise Minor Hockey Association extends our deepest condolences to Craig Tulk, his family and loved ones on the passing of his beloved wife, Sue.

Our thoughts are with the Tulk family and the entire Hockey NL community during this difficult time. ❤️

It is with profound sadness that Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador shares the passing of Susan (Sue) Pitcher, beloved spouse of Craig Tulk, Executive Director of Hockey NL. Sue passed peacefully on August 20, 2026, surrounded by her family and loved ones.

For those of us who had the privilege of knowing Sue, it is difficult to put into words what made her so special. She was one of the kindest, most genuine and sincere people you could ever meet. She had a remarkable way of making people feel welcome and cared for, and her warmth, generosity and friendship touched so many within our hockey community and well beyond it.

Sue’s contribution to hockey was also very much her own. She was a recipient of Hockey Canada’s Liz MacKinnon Award, recognizing the dedicated support, time and special contributions of the spouse or companion of a Hockey Canada volunteer. It was a fitting recognition for someone who gave so much of herself in support of others and of the game that became such an important part of her family’s life.

Those who knew Sue will remember her love of cooking and the happiness she found in bringing people together. For Sue, food was more than something to share; it was one of the many ways she showed people that she cared. Whether around a table, at a hockey event, or simply in conversation, Sue had a way of making those around her feel at home.

Her passing leaves an enormous void, most especially for Craig, Dylan, and their family, but also for the many friends and members of our hockey family who were fortunate enough to know and love her. We will remember Sue not simply for what she did, but for how she made people feel. Our lives and our hockey community are better because she was part of them.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, staff, members and the entire Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador family, we extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to Craig, Dylan, their family, and all those who loved Sue.

We ask that the privacy of Craig, Dylan, and the family be respected as they grieve this tremendous loss.

Sue will be deeply missed and very fondly remembered.

📢 SHIFT FORWARD – REGISTRATION REMINDER

Just a clarification regarding the Shift Forward requirement for the upcoming 2026/27 hockey season:

Before registering your player, the parent or guardian completing the registration must have completed the Shift Forward: Evolving Hockey Culture online course.

✅ Only one parent/guardian per registered player is required to complete the course.

If you have already completed the course, please log into your HCR account to confirm that your completion is showing before registration.

If you have not yet completed it, please do so prior to your registration time.

The following is an important reminder to all members, that for the 2026-27 season, The Shift Forward: Evolving Hockey Culture is a mandatory online program required to be completed by all coaches, rostered staff & officials. As well, at least one parent per registrant must complete the Shift Forward for Parents. The Shift Foward: Evolving Hockey Culture online courses will be open to the membership July 2, 2026.
