ππ¦Yesterday, we unexpectedly had to say good bye to a very special school horse as Merlin crossed rainbow bridge. Merlin was always truly and apologetically himself. He was a strong, opinionated horse who was as stubborn as the day is long. He was that way until the last moment. That being said, he was so kind and patient, and a fabulous teacher. He taught so many of us, taught so many people how to listen to horses and give them appropriate respect. He threw his whole heart into everything. He was such a special man and we are so thankful that his owner, Laura Klingenberg was able to share him with so many of us. Merlin was one of very few horses who was privileged to have one owner his whole life, and Laura was there while he was born and was by his side yesterday. He has been a huge part of Rolling Hills history and my life. Merlin, you will never ever be forgotten. Thank you for always being unapologetically you.

ππFALL Pony Tail Announcementππ
Pony Tails is a program designed as an introduction to horses, but can also be a great supplement to riding lessons. Pony Tails is for ages 5-12 years. Each class includes:
π΄ Group Riding Lesson - All participants have a volunteer helping them and remain on a leadline at a walk. We learn/review the basics of a good riding position and how to control our horses. We also learn about various disciplines/styles of riding (dressage, western gaming, hunters, jumpers, working equitation) as well as enjoy some mounted games.
π΄ Stable Management Lesson - In this lesson, we learn about different aspects of looking after our horses including how to feed them, clean their stalls, care for their tack/equipment, groom them properly, and other fun activities centered around what it takes to look after our horses. Participants also learn all about horse communication, how to safely handle horses on the ground, lead them safely, and other basic ground work activities with our horses.
π΄ Craft Activity - Each participant gets to complete various horse themed crafts that they can take home with them.

Well, Silver West #3 had its challenges for Team RHF. But we persevered, the girls showed some real grit and improvements were made! We were excited to debut Soul Ridge Xpression Honour for her first silver series and she came out like the true professional is. Canβt wait for #4!

πAre you an adult who is interested in learning about horses? Maybe itβs something you have always wanted to try, maybe something you loved as a child but havenβt done in many years. Or maybe youβre just looking for something new to do. If any of these are true, our Horse Sense program is for you! Each class we discuss various aspects of horses, their behaviour and how they communicate. We learn how to handle them on the ground and do a brief ride focusing on the basics. We also discuss and actively work on nervous system regulation for both us and our horses. Horse Sense runs on select Saturdays from 1:30pm - 3:30pm. For more information or to sign up, please contact us! π
