Good luck to our U16 Rep Bayhawks this weekend at Provincials

The Owen Sound Bayhawks U17 Girls team travelled to Kingston to compete is Division 2 of the Ontario Cup.

In the opening game of pool play, the No.4 Bayhawks beat No.8 Newmarket 58-38. The second game had them playing No.5 Parry Sound. It was a tight game throughout, but the Bayhawks pulled out a 37-31 victory. The Bayhawks faced No.1 Collingwood in the final game of pool play. While they battled hard they came up a little short sending them to the Bronze Medal game against No.3 Orillia. In the Bronze Medal game, the Bayhawks got off to a slow start and trailed by double digits in the first half. Not wanting to leave Kingston empty handed, the team stormed back in the second half and secured an exciting 48-41 victory.

The U15 Girls Bayhawks season concluded this past weekend with a silver medal finish at the Ontario Cup in Niagara Falls (Pool 6).

The girls finished 2–1 in round-robin play:
Owen Sound 48 – IEM Basketball 30
Owen Sound 59 – Grassroots Elite Canada 36
Owen Sound 29 – Mumba Elite 25

After pool play, the team advanced to the gold medal game against IEM Basketball. The girls battled hard but ultimately fell short, earning a well-deserved silver medal.
Coaches Josh Elliott and Eric Watson are extremely proud of the team’s determination, hard work, and effort throughout this year-end tournament.

Congrats to our U17 Boys who won the IEM Tournament in Newmarket this past weekend!

They were in Pool J with the top AAA/AA teams at the tournament. They started with an opening 86-76 loss to the Woodbridge Lions however bounced back with wins over the London Ramblers 81-64, London Gold Medal 62-60 (double OT) and First Step Elite 66-54. In the final they got to face Woodbridge again and came out with a 55-51 win to win the championship!

This was a great learning experience for the boys as they faced many different situations and in the process defeated teams in higher divisions then them in the OBL including 2 in the top OBLX division!

The boys are back in action May 2/3 for their 4 game weekend in Pool C at Hoop Dome in North York.

The U17 Boys Bayhawks have had a successful start to the season in Division C of the U17 Ontario Basketball League. The team currently sits tied atop the standings at 3-1 heading into this weekends games. On Saturday they are in Toronto to play the Golden Eagles from Mississauga and the Sudbury Storm.
