VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: FUNDRAISING, SPONSORSHIP & MARKETING COORDINATOR 🏀

Want to help make basketball more accessible for local youth while building strong connections in our community?

Ottawa Shooting Stars is looking for an enthusiastic and community-minded volunteer to help lead fundraising, sponsorship, and marketing initiatives that support our players, programs, and the Get In The Game Fund.

What you’ll help with:
💰 Lead fundraising initiatives that support OSS programs
🤝 Develop sponsorship opportunities and community partnerships
🏀 Help grow the Get In The Game Fund and increase awareness of the support available to families
📣 Support marketing initiatives that promote OSS and our programs
👥 Recruit and organize volunteers to help with fundraising campaigns and sponsorship initiatives

🏀 VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: HOUSE LEAGUE AGE GROUP CONVENOR ⭐

Ottawa Shooting Stars is looking for 7 Age Group Convenors to help support our House League program and ensure players, coaches, and families have a great experience throughout the season.

As an Age Group Convenor, you’ll be the key point of contact for your assigned age group and help keep things organized both on and off the court.

What you’ll help with:
🏀 Support coaches, players, and families throughout the season
🤝 Recruit and support volunteer coaches and other volunteers
📣 Help communicate important information to families and coaches
🏀 Support game-day operations and help ensure things run smoothly
🎒 Make sure teams have the equipment and resources they need, including jerseys, first aid kits, score clocks, basketballs, and other essentials
⭐ Help create a positive, organized, and enjoyable House League experience

🌟Coaching Spotlight - Rising Stars U19 Men's Coach Fiander 🌟

We’re excited to announce that Mason Fiander is returning as the Rising Stars U19 Men’s Head Coach for the 2026–27 season!

Last season, Mason helped lead the U17 Rising Stars to a historic 6th-place finish in Ontario, becoming the first Ottawa Shooting Stars team to ever qualify for the OBA Provincial Championships.

Mason brings a strong basketball background as an Ottawa High School All-Star Game alumni selection, City Finalist, and former Prep basketball player, He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Kinetics from the University of Ottawa and works as a Personal Trainer and Certified Strength & Conditioning Coach at Altea Active.

In addition to coaching within the Rising Stars program, Mason has also coached OSS U15 teams and has been involved with St. Peter Catholic High School Senior Boys Basketball as both a Head Coach and Assistant Coach.

Congratulations, Mason! Our athletes are in great hands, and we can’t wait to see what the U19 Men’s Rising Stars accomplish this season. 🔥⭐

🌟Coaching Spotlight - Rising Stars U16 Boys Coach Cooper 🌟

Andrew Cooper is returning to the program as the head coach of the Rising Stars U16 Boys team. Last season he led the U15 Rising Stars to a 39-9 record, and a bronze medal in division 1 of the OBA championships and is looking to build on this success in 2026-27.

Prior to coaching with Rising Stars, Andrew has coached in multiple other elite programs in the Ottawa area including Dream Canada, Evo and Ottawa Elite.

Andrew grew up in Kingston and was an accomplished basketball player competing at the high school, Provincial, AAU and U-sport level.

Playing for, and then coaching under Canadian Basketball Hall of Fame coach, Dave Smart has given Andrew a blueprint for success and an understanding of how to develop players and build winning basketball programs.
