✨Muscle Knots✨
A muscle knot, also known as a trigger point, is a localized area of muscle that becomes unusually tight and tense. These knots can cause discomfort and may limit your range of motion.
Muscle knots often form due to; overuse or strain from physical activitiy, prolonged poor posture, emotional stress causing muscle tension, and/or dehydration or inadequate nutrition.
Here are some of our favourite tips to deal with muscle knots:
✨Stretching: Gently stretch the affected muscle, holding each stretch for about 30 seconds.
✨Massage: Apply pressure to the knot using your fingers, a massage ball, or a foam roller.
✨Heat: Use a heating pad or warm towel to relax the muscle and increase blood flow.
✨Hydration: Drink plenty of water to replenish fluids and support muscle health.
✨Rest: Give the affected muscle time to recover from strain and tension.

Hi everyone ❤️
We wish to keep you informed that one of our neighbours experienced an explosion in the back of their unit on Saturday night. Everyone is safe and no people were harmed. Our thoughts are with Bob's Rehab.
As a result of the explosion, power has been lost to the entire building, including Inertia Physio+.
As we have a lot of windows and daylight to work with, we can safely open on Monday morning. Obviously, our technological capacity will be limited. We will be able to accept cash or eTransfer only.
If any of our therapists choose not to work in these conditions, we will be letting you know by email. If you don't hear from us, your appointment is a go.
If you need to reach us, the easiest way right now is likely email at [email protected]. During the day on Monday, you may also be able to reach us by phone at 613-672-2200.
Thank you so much for your patience and understanding at this time. We would also like to say a huge thank you to our local firefighters and police department for all their help and wish Bob's Rehab a speedy rebuild.

Welcome back to another Term Tip Tuesday! Today we wanted to talk about Edema.
Edema is a condition characterized by the accumulation of excess fluid in the interstitial spaces of the body, resulting in swelling and inflammation.
In Physiotherapy, edema is often treated through manual lymphatic drainage, compression therapy, and exercise to promote circulation and reduce swelling.
Manual Lymphatic drainage specifically targets the lymphatic system, which lies just beneath the skin. Unlike regular massage, MLD does not use creams or oils and involves light, rhythmic movements that promote the natural flow of lymph fluid throughout the body.

Let's talk about the difference between Athletic Therapists and Physiotherapists 👇
👉 Physiotherapists:
Physiotherapists are trained in a broad scope of practice. While you’ll most commonly see them working in orthopedic clinical settings like Inertia Physio+, they are also educated in hospital-based care including cardio-respiratory, neurological, pediatric, burn, and amputee rehabilitation.
👉 Athletic Therapists:
Athletic Therapists have a more specialized focus in orthopedics. Their training includes two key areas: clinical rehabilitation (like what you see at Inertia Physio+) and on-field emergency care — similar to the “trainers” you see on the sidelines of professional sports.
In an Orthopedic clinical setting such as Inertia Physio+, Physiotherapists and Athletic Therapists function in much the same way. Individual therapist approaches will vary, based on the continuing education taken since graduation and their experience and background in other areas.
One important difference to note is insurance coverage. Physiotherapy is typically covered under most extended healthcare insurance plans. Athletic Therapy may also be covered, but not always. We encourage you to review your individual health plan to understand your specific coverage.
No matter the title, our goal is the same: to help you move better, feel better, and get back to doing what you love. 💪

What can you expect from a lympathic drainage session?
Manual Lympathic Drainage is a relaxing, non-invasive therapy that encourages the body's natural healing processes without deep pressure or discomfort.
Here a few things you can expect during your first visit:
👉 MLD works best when performed directly on skin, so patients are encouraged to wear or bring appropriate clothing. Loose-fitting garments, shorts, tank tops, etc.)
👉 You may be asked to remove some clothing for access to the treatment area, but draping is always provided for comfort and privacy.
👉 No lotions or oils are used. The technique feels more like gentle skin stretching or brushing, rather than a deep tissue massage.
👉 Your therapist will assess your individual needs and may recommend frequency and duration based on your condition and/or treatment goals.
👉 Most clients find the treatment deeply relaxing, often experiencing a sense of lightness or reduced swelling even after the first session.

We get a lot of vestibular questions. Here is a post to help answer them!
Q: What does the Vestibular System Do?
A: The vestibular system is responsible for eye movements, balance function and spatial awareness. Any damage to the vestibular system causes vestibular disorders, which can include vertigo, balance disorders, a spinning room or imbalanced gait.
Q: What Are Vestibular Disorders?
A: Vestibular issues usually arise from inner ear disorders, which are caused by benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV). BPPV is also known as vertigo. Vertigo is the sudden sensation of dizziness. It is caused by crystals in the inner ear being displaced and affecting balance.
Q: How does Vestibular Rehab Work?
A: Vestibular rehabilitation Physiotherapy is manual therapy to help relieve balance disorders. Your Physiotherapist can help you alleviate common symptoms and get you back to normal, by using manual techniques to restore inner ear crystal position and exercises to help your system work better together again.
Q: What are the benefits to Vertibular Physiotherapy?
A: Benefits can include increased balance and stability, decreased dizziness, improved neck movement, improved eye movement, decreased nausea, decreased motion sensitivity and a return to normal life and activities.
Q: What are the First Steps of Vestibular Physiotherapy?
A: A Physiotherapist will first assess functioning of the musculoskeletal system and vestibular apparatus and surrounding areas to determine the presence of disease or injury and presence of vestibular disorder symptoms. They will then provide manual in the form of head and neck treatment and exercises designed to replace the crystals in the inner ear to the correct position and restore optimal functioning of this system.

Direct Billing is something we love to offer to our patients to make your lives easier!
Based on how your insurance plan is set up, your claim can be administered in one of these ways:
👉 Plans with 100% coverage: the claim will be paid directly to the clinic with no expense to you at all.
👉 Plans with partial coverage: the portion of your claim that is covered by your insurance plan will be paid directly to the clinic. You will only be responsible for paying the remainder.
👉 With some insurance companies, they will not send funds to the clinic. In these cases, you will pay for your treatment as usual but, the insurance claim is submitted to your provider for you and the funds will then be sent directly to you. This means you do not have to submit anything on your own and your insurance will pay you directly.
Regardless of your type of insurance coverage, our administrative team is pleased to relieve you of the chore of submitting electronic or paper claims to your insurance provider leaving you with more time to do the things you love.
If your insurance plan supports direct billing, we will administer the claim on your behalf.
