First, I would like to thank the city of Ottawa. All my neighbors showed up really hard, bringing the hype and energy for this amazing event. I'm proud to live in the triathlon capital of Canada.
Next, I would like to thank all the volunteers who braved the rain and made the race happen. Couldn't do it without you legends.
Next I would like to thank all of the out of towners who raced. And the tourists who patronized our local businesses. This is part of the reason Iron man made a great choice coming here.
I would especially like to thank all of the out-of-towners who complained about the bike course design and road quality, for further confirming that Ottawa has the toughest triathletes in the world.
Next, I would like to thank all the athletes who raced fair. Lots of you didn't. But let's focus on the positives 👍🏻👍🏻
Next, I would like to thank the kind aid station volunteer who helped scoop me up off the pavement. And provided me with tools for bike repairs. Saved my race. And to the fella I crashed into: you have a nice ass.
Now the special ones:
The true trail squad. Ryan, Spencer, and Pieter, who scored PRs all around. I'm impressed with all of the hard work you guys put in this season. You all raced with discipline and strategy, but most of all, grit and heart. You embody all the strength of iron. Proud to have you on the squad.
The extended true trail squad. Everyone who kept the vibes at the party tent going. Your perseverance to keep the energy up despite the conditions helped make the race memorable.
To my wife. Who's perfected the art of sherpa-ing ironman. Thanks for bringing BBQ chips to the party tent and making me grilled cheese when my legs stopped work ing at 12am. I promise to go into ironman retirement for the next # years.
To mom n dad. Thanks for teaching me about the sport of triathlon in 1998 and continuing to support my journey.
To my legs, for their obedience. I whipped you into shape in training and treated you well, and hoping you would return the favor, and you did. Left foot right foot to a 10:29*. An Ironman PR that I can be happy with.
That's all for now. I know this should have been an email.
