She told us she cried in her car before coming in on her first day. And I think that says a lot about how hard starting can actually feel.
From the outside, joining a gym can look simple. You book the appointment, walk in, do the workout.
But sometimes thereâs a lot wrapped up in that first step
- how long itâs been
- how you feel in your body
- whether youâll know what to do
- whether youâll fit in.
Then, little by little, it becomes normal.
You learn the space.
You know the coaches.
You stop wondering if you belong there.
And one day you realize the place you were scared to walk into has become part of your week.
Weâre really glad she came inđ©”

Two new classes are joining the Carling schedule next week đ
THURSDAY | Core Foundations
Ever been told to âbrace your coreâ and thought⊠okay, but how? đ€·
This class is about learning how to actually use your core - how to brace, breathe, control your trunk and build a stronger foundation for the movements you do in the gym and every day.
FRIDAY | Strength & Stability
Build strength, work on your balance and feel more confident in the way your body moves. This class combines strength work with control and stability training to help everyday movement feel a little easier - and a whole lot stronger.
Both classes are designed to help you move better, feel steadier and build strength you can actually use.

When youâre already in pain, âjust start working outâ can feel like terrible advice.
You know you need to move.
You know getting stronger would probably help.
But when something hurts, the last thing you want to do is walk into a gym and guess your way through it.
Thatâs exactly why coaching matters.
We build your training around where youâre at right now. We can modify movements, adjust your range, change the load and keep adapting as you go - so you can start moving without feeling like you have to ignore what your body is telling you.
You donât need to be pain-free, super fit, or âreadyâ before you start.
You just need a plan that makes sense for you.

A little reminder that not every moment has to be filled.

Whatâs a small gym win that made you happy this week? :)
Adding weight to something.
Finally nailing a certain exercise.
Not dreading your workout anymore.
Realizing the stairs donât suck as much.
Showing up.
Actually remembering your water bottle for once.
We want to hear yours đ
Whatâs worse: forgetting your headphones or forgetting your water?đ

Whatttttt⊠an Olive Garden in Ottawa??? SINCE WHEN? đ
Did anyone else know about this??
Okay okay - life is about balance. If you want the fettuccine Alfredo, get the fettuccine Alfredo. (extra parm - yes please đ€€)
But if youâre looking for a few menu options that still feel like an actual meal and fit your goals a little better, here are some weâd look at:
đ Grilled Chicken Margherita
Grilled chicken with tomatoes, mozzarella, pesto + lemon garlic sauce, with parmesan garlic broccoli.
đ„© 6 oz. Sirloin
Steak + fettuccine Alfredo. Honestly, kind of the best of both worlds.
đ Herb-Grilled Salmon
Salmon with garlic herb butter, asparagus + a side of fettuccine Alfredo.
đ€ Shrimp Scampi
Shrimp, asparagus, tomatoes + angel hair pasta in garlic sauce. This oneâs on the weekday lunch menu.
And if you want a lighter swap without ordering something boring, get your favourite pasta dish and sub the pasta for broccoli (seriously!) Chicken Alfredo is PERFECT for this! The sauce coats the broccoli so well you seriously donât miss it đ€€
The point isnât to make Olive Garden âhealthy.â
The point is you donât have to skip the restaurant, order plain chicken and lettuce, or feel like you âblew itâ because you went out for dinner.
Pick what sounds good, make a swap if you want one, enjoy your meal and move on with your life đ
Okay but for real⊠who knew this was here now and DIDNâT TELL US!? đ

Yesterday was wild!! For a few minutes: high winds, hail, rainâŠ
and right in the middle of it, a double rainbow.
Then a few minutes later⊠it was sunny again.
Kind of a good reminder that two things can be true at once.
You can be having a rough week and still have one really good hour.
You can be tired and still be proud of yourself.
You can feel like things are a bit messy and still be making progress.
The rainbow doesnât wait for the storm to be over đ

Some wins deserve a permanent spot on the grid â€ïž
Six months of training. A room full of nerves. A first squat that didnât go the way she wanted.
And then she kept going.
Isabelle finished her competition with a 7.5 kg deadlift PR, a new 380 kg total, and a 3rd-place finish. đȘ
But what weâre most proud of isnât just the number on the bar.
Itâs what happens in the months before a day like this.
Showing up when training feels great. Showing up when it doesnât. Learning to trust your body. Getting stronger rep by rep. Walking into something that makes you nervous and doing it anyway.
Kyle has been coaching Isabelle for the past six months, and seeing all of that work come together on the platform was pretty special.
And sheâs already looking ahead - OPA Provincials in 2027, with Nationals in PEI in her sights for 2028 đ
For now though, weâre celebrating this one.
380 kg. A new PR. A podium finish. And a whole lot to be proud of.
Congratulations, Isabelle. We canât wait to see what you do next â€ïžđȘ
