It’s hard to believe September is already here, and just a few weeks ago we were celebrating our end of year rep banquet. Let’s reminisce, shall we? 🥍

This season, Orillia Minor Lacrosse proudly housed 12 Rep teams from U7 to U22, including, for the first time in many years, a Girls Box team!

We are incredibly proud of all our athletes. Throughout the season, we watched you grow as players, improve your skills, compete with heart, and build lifelong friendships through a game we all love. We can’t wait to see what next season brings!

We would also like to congratulate this year’s Major Award winners:

🏆 Michael Vincent Paolucci Award – Recognizing a graduating U17 player for outstanding dedication and commitment. Congratulations Cole!

🛑Ken McLaughlin Goaltender Award – Recognizing excellence in goaltending. Given to a Junior (U9-U13) athlete and a Senior (U15-U22) athlete. Congratulations Stefani and Will!

⭐ Frank “Piper” Bain Award – Recognizing elite skill, reliability, heart, hustle, and a positive attitude. Given to a Junior (U9-U13) athlete and a Senior (U15-U22) athlete. Congratulations Nash and Ronin!

🥍 Boyd Balkwill Award – Recognizing dedication, commitment to team play, and contributions both offensively and defensively. Given to a Junior (U9-U13) athlete and a Senior (U15-U22) athlete. Congratulations Beckham and Jack!

🎖️Steve Wilde Officiating Award – Recognizing an Orillia official who demonstrates exceptional fairness, professionalism, and commitment to improving the game. Congratulations Parker!

❤️ Pat Elliot Volunteer of the Year Award – Recognizing an individual(s) who goes above and beyond to support and promote lacrosse in our community. Congratulations Jackson!

👏 Ryan Crowther Memorial Bench Staff of the Year Award – Recognizing bench staff (or bench staff member) who exemplifies teamwork, fair play, and leadership while going above and beyond for their players, families, and the lacrosse community. Congratulations our U17 Bench Staff!

They definitely gave us an edge of your seat final game, and we are so proud of their accomplishments this season.

Ontario Lacrosse is excited to announce the launch of its new Sixes sector, a dynamic format of lacrosse designed to enhance the sport’s development and competitive scope across the province. Introduced by World Lacrosse in 2018, Sixes is a fast-paced, compact version of lacrosse that merges the most thrilling aspects of the game.

This format aims to accelerate the global growth of lacrosse, improve accessibility and approachability, ensure a more competitive balance, and reduce the costs and complexities involved in participation and event organization. As the focal point of lacrosse’s integration into the Olympic Games, Sixes embodies the sport’s future on the global stage.

The Ontario Lacrosse Festival kicks off tomorrow, and we’re excited to cheer on our U13 and U15 Kings teams as they hit the floor for an amazing weekend of lacrosse. Best of luck to all of our teams—we can’t wait to watch you compete! ❤️💙

🔵 We are hoping to run all age groups for sixes (should numbers allow)
🔴 We are looking for certified and registered coaches through Orillia Minor Lacrosse to help make this program possible! Interview process and dates to be communicated with interested applicants.
⚪️ The season runs from Mid August to Mid October
