Sunday Drop in Today! 11-2ish, all welcome. Harvested one of the sweetest strawberries of our lives this week at the Farm Lab. Maybe you'll get to try one too?

TODAY (& future Mondays, Thurs, Sundays). All are welcome to join our regular drop-in gardening events happening every Monday from 11-1pm and Thursday from 3-5pm until October 31st. We will also go on Sundays (occasionally) but we encourage folks to contact ahead for Sundays! Drops in last till end of October!

The is an community classroom for all ages and disciplines. We host fieldtrips for Lakehead classes and K-12 students in our region for curriculum based programs focused on sustainable food systems and community food literacy.

Guest Facilitator at Grow!

George Colin diCenzo, a Professor at Queen's University in the Department of Biology, facilitated workshops in four of our junior/intermediate GROW classes.


His workshops focused on his research centred upon Nitrogen-Fixing Bacteria and its impact on soil health and food production to potentially reduce or eliminate the use of nitrogen fertilizers in commercial farming.

Students learned about the importance of bacteria and its different roles that support life, they learned how to conduct a scientific inquiry, used magnifying glasses to carefully inspect rhizobium nodules on the roots of alfalfa plants, and had the opportunity to ask George about the life of being a scientist and working at Queen’s University.
