Meet Coach Konstantin! 🤩

What made you want to coach?
“CrossFit changed me so much that improving only myself was too selfish. So I chose to spend my time helping other people progress their goals.”

What is your favourite part about coaching?
”Watching members become stronger and more confident, and finally realize that they are capable of so much more”

What’s something you wishes more people understood?
“CrossFit isn’t just about lifting heavy. It’s about discipline, health, consistency, and long term progress first, then lifting heavy with proper technique.”

Your favorite movement?
“The deadlift.”

What is your 2026 goal?
”Improve my heavy deadlift. I wake up thinking about it, I train for it, and dream about it. Obsession? Maybe. Necessary? Absolutely😆”

Thankful to have you as part of our community coach!

We want to take a moment to celebrate one of our members who has officially lost 100 lbs since joining CrossFit. Jessica, we are so proud of your hard work and dedication. Not just for the results, but for sticking with it, setting and achieving goals, and challenging yourself every step of the way. We asked Jessica some questions about her journey:

“I lost 100 pounds, but what I gained at CFO was even more valuable: strength, confidence, friendship, and belief in myself.”

How long have you been a member at CFO?

I joined CFO in January 2025, but I’ve worked with Kat on and off since 2017. I knew firsthand her passion, knowledge, and ability to meet people exactly where they are in their journey—always with compassion and zero judgment. She helped me get started, but the community is what kept me coming back. Being able to bring my kids removed one of my biggest barriers, and seeing results from a calorie deficit combined with strength training gave me the motivation to keep going. Every few months, I surprisingly notice something new: I can run farther, lift heavier, move faster, and push harder than I could before. My strength, endurance, confidence, and courage continue to grow. What started as a workout became something much bigger. It helps me manage the stress of raising three young children while balancing family, friendships, work, and everything else life throws my way. At this point, I don’t go to the gym because I feel like it—I go because it’s part of who I am. Some days I show up forgetting I technically have free will and don’t actually have to do 50 burpees. But I always leave grateful that I showed up. That’s enough for me.

What’s a goal you’ve hit since joining that you’re proud of?

I’ve lost 100 pounds and maintained it. Along the way, I’ve gained strength, confidence, friendships, and a version of myself I wasn’t sure I’d ever meet.

What would you say to someone who’s been thinking about joining but hasn’t taken the leap yet?

Bring a friend. Try a class. Commit to one month, then three. It might just change your life—it changed mine. The mom community here is unlike anything I’ve ever experi

It felt like a good time to break down the deadlift since we’re seeing it in our programming often lately. And if you’re not in class, you’re already doing a version of it every time you pick something up off the floor; groceries, kids, a heavy box, whatever. Same movement. The difference is whether your back is happy about it afterward.

Here’s what to know:
• SET UP FIRST: Feet hip-width apart. Bar over mid-foot. Hips hinge back (you’re not squatting down).
•BRACE BEFORE YOU PULL: Big breath into your belly. Core tight. Lats engaged. Think: “protect your spine.”
•PUSH THE FLOOR AWAY: You’re not pulling the bar up, you’re pushing the ground down. The bar stays close to your body the whole way.

COMMON MISTAKES TO AVOID
•Rounding the lower back
•Jerking the bar off the floor
•Letting the hips shoot up first

A good deadlift isn’t just gym strength. It’s the strength you bring into your everyday life.

If you’ve ever been interested in trying a class-style workout, here’s are 4 reasons why you should:

- The programming is done for you. No standing around wondering what to do next. Every class is a coach-built workout around functional movements, the stuff that actually makes daily life easier.

-Accountability is built in. When there’s a class on the schedule and people know your name, you show up. Community might be the most underrated tool in fitness and trust us when we tell you, we have the best community🔥.

-Coaching keeps you safe and progressing; watching your form, tweaking your movements, pushing you just enough, and answering any questions you may have.

- Lastly, there is an energy in our gym that you can’t get from working out alone. There’s something about grinding through a workout next to other people. The class pulls you along. You finish things you’d never finish solo.

GET TO KNOW COACH JUSTIN🎉

What made you want to start coaching?
“I wanted to take my L1 to get a deeper understanding of the CrossFit methodology and movements. The rest is history!”

What’s your favorite part about being on the coaching side? “
Watching members level up, whether that’s nailing a new skill or hitting a fresh PR. There’s nothing better than seeing someone achieve something they didn’t think was possible.”

Is there anything you wish members understood better?
“Absolutely. Rest, recovery, and nutrition are just as important as the workouts themselves. They cannot be ignored if you want real results. Too many people overlook that piece.”

What’s your favorite movement to train?
“Heavy barbell work or anything on the handstand wall. I could spend all day on those.”

What are you working toward in 2026?
“This year is all about building a strong foundation. No major comps on the calendar right now, but I’m hoping to qualify for some fun competitions next season.”

Thanks for all that you do for the CFO community Justin!

Staying consistent on your own isn’t always easy.

Life gets busy. Motivation comes and goes. And it’s easy to skip a workout when no one’s expecting you.

That’s where class-style training makes the difference.

You have a set time.
A coach guiding you.
A group around you doing it with you.

It takes the guesswork out and gives you the structure and support to keep showing up even on the days you don’t feel like it.

At CrossFit Orangeville, you’re never doing it alone. And that’s what helps consistency stick. 💪
