These three tap routines have their choreography completed before our regular dance season even begins!

A huge thank-you to Ms Rachel for sharing all her creativity and talent with our dancers. We’ll continue practising the routines each week in class, and we hope you’ll be proud of how far they’ve come when you return to see them! 💜💚

“I’ve done this before.”

“This is boring.”

“Can’t we learn harder jumps and turns?”

The truth is, advanced dancers never stop working on the basics.

Pliés, tendus, posture, placement and proper alignment may not always feel exciting, but they build the strength, control and technique needed to perform more difficult steps safely.

If a dancer rushes through the basics or doesn’t work hard to improve them, advanced jumps and turns will be much more difficult—and the risk of injury increases.

A plié is not “just a plié.” It prepares the body to jump, land safely and change direction. A tendu strengthens the feet and legs, improves alignment and teaches dancers how to use the floor.

Dancers must also practise everything on both sides. Just because your pirouette to the right is strong does not mean you should avoid turning to the left. Both sides need to be trained—even when one side feels more difficult.

Always favouring one side can create imbalances in strength, flexibility and coordination. A well-trained dancer works toward developing the body equally on both sides.

Doing an exercise before does not mean it has been mastered. The goal is to perform it with greater strength, precision, control and artistry each time.

The basics—and the side that challenges you most—aren’t holding you back from advanced skills. They are what make advanced skills possible.

Season 24 is starting Saturday September 12!

August is a great time to begin solos and duets! 💜💚

With regular classes not yet underway, dancers can give their full attention to learning and understanding their new choreography. There are fewer distractions, more time to focus on the details and a wonderful opportunity for dancers and choreographers to work together before the busy fall season begins.

Getting an early start also gives dancers plenty of time to practise, build confidence and truly make their routines their own before competition season!

Oh, the memories this photo brings back! 💜

This must have been about 22 years ago, and what a fun, creative group of gals they were! They especially loved Musical Theatre and Hip Hop—and they always brought so much personality and energy to every class and performance.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to get them all back together for a Musical Theatre reunion? I wonder how many of them would be ready to take the stage again! 🎭✨

Just like the Santa mug I used this morning, some things don’t have to wait for the “right” season. 🎅☕️

Today, we started working on this duet for our upcoming competitive season.

While our regular dance season begins in September, competitive choreography often starts during the summer. Beginning early gives our dancers time to learn their choreography, build their connection as partners and grow more confident in their routine before competition season arrives.

The studio may be quieter during the summer, but the planning, creating and dreaming never stop.

We never stop thinking about our dancers—or the exciting season ahead! 💜💚
