I wouldn’t be able to get through most days without these humans.
Tonight we celebrated the power of community at the incredible experience curated by the amazing Nathalie Carrier and her crew at the ZAC Vanier BIA showcasing the exceptional creative talents of Carole Saad who transported us to an Arabian night. The food, the wine, the vibe, the cause….all magical.

This is my brand new graduate of hair design school!! I am so proud of you baby girl. Watching you overcome everything you did to get to this moment was truly remarkable. Here’s to a lifetime of free haircuts! Kidding. I know you charge big bucks now. 😆
Congrats Madison Jeanne 🫶🏻
You’re one step closer to your dream. I love you so much. ❤️

This July, Ottawa will host something that has never happened before on North American soil.
Odesa Classics — Ukraine's celebrated international music festival, founded in 2015 on the shores of the Black Sea — will make its North American debut at Ottawa Chamberfest on July 25th.
Since Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022, the festival has lived on in exile across seven European countries, performing over 60 concerts as a testament to the endurance of Ukrainian culture. And this month, it comes to Canada.
Canada has stood with Ukraine like no other nation. In 2025, Forbes Ukraine named Canada Ukraine's top friend in the world. Prime Minister Carney has visited Kyiv, our armed forces have trained over 47,000 Ukrainian soldiers, and our communities have welcomed more than 200,000 displaced Ukrainians since 2022. With 1.4 million Canadians of Ukrainian heritage, this relationship is not just political — it is personal, generational, and deep.
Odesa Classics at Ottawa Chamberfest is the cultural expression of that bond.
World-class Ukrainian and Canadian artists — including pianist Alexey Botvinov, the Gryphon Trio, and violinist Carissa Klopoushak — will perform an all-Ukrainian program at the Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre, including the North American premiere of a new work by composer Valentyn Silvestrov. The evening will close with a tribute performed by displaced Ukrainian musicians now living in the Outaouais region — Canadians by circumstance, Ukrainians by heart.
This is the story of how it came to be.
I met a man named Alexey... In the spring of 2025, I was attending the European Festivals Association conference in Edinburgh when I met Ukrainian master pianist Alexey Botvinov. Like so many conversations at networking gatherings, it started with a simple introduction.
