On a video I watched recently, the narrator said, โThe view was a bit underwhelming.โ
Hmm. So it seems we want to be neither overwhelmed nor underwhelmed. ๐
Ooooh, bless the when we are all just a little whelmed.
Ironically, the original meaning of the word was to be engulfed or overcome by something. Same basic meaning as overwhelmed, except OVERwhelmed meant EXTREME feeling of whelm.
In modern times whelmed has been understood as the in-between state - perfect balance.
Iโll just go with that. ๐ Letโs seek to be whelmed today. ๐คฉ

Full circle . . . back to ๐ผ๐๐๐๐ผ๐
๐ด๐๐ผ๐๐, from its illumination to its shadow.
It's been quite a journey.
Though I never left it completely, I find myself back where I began with All Ways Inspired (the name I gave my business back in 2011).
It has been tested.
There were grueling seasons when I slipped into believing my circumstances meant inspiration had failed, had faded . . . or worse, that it wasn't even real at all, and that I'd been foolish for proclaiming it.
In his remarkable book, ๐ผ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ก๐๐๐: ๐๐๐ข๐ ๐๐๐ก๐๐๐๐ก๐ ๐ถ๐๐๐๐๐๐, Wayne Dyer wrote:
"The word inspired comes from the words โin spirit.โโ
"When you are inspired, you never have to ask about your purpose."
"Being inspired is a choice to see the world from a higher perspective."
"When you are in-spirit, you are motivated by a force greater than yourself."
I was beyond excited to fly to Fort Lauderdale in May of 2014 to have Dr. Dyer autograph that very book. At the time, it wasn't just my favorite book, it felt like MY own personal "ultimate calling."
But over the years, my conviction about living an inspired life wavered. Deep down, I still believed. I just didn't always live from that place.
We're programmed from childhood to see the world a certain way. We arrive with unique personalities, but over time our nervous systems adapt to life's experiences, both beautiful and painful.
Sometimes our inner light is reduced to little more than a flicker.
After enough disappointments, losses, or heartaches, we begin to mistake the darkness around us for the truth within us.
We stop expressing who we are. We shrink.
A part of us fades - goes dormant - while we search for our way back to truth, love, inner fire . . . and inspiration.
There were seasons when optimism came in fits and spurts while I navigated circumstances that felt anything but inspiring.
Yet every single time I embraced stillness, whether by journaling, prayer, or time in nature, there it was again.
Inspiration.
"I never left you," it seemed to whisper.
The lesson . . .
Don't mistake your circumstances for the power within you and all around you.
You are still loved. Still worthy. Still capable. Still one of God's beautiful creations. And still being guided.
I think I've finally learned the difference.

Beyond everything I have ever had to confront, battle, heal, or move through, one thing has remained.
As far back as I can remember, there has been an abiding knowing within me: that I am never alone, never as stuck as I think I am, more loved than I can imagine, and more capable than I sometimes feel, even when my external world failed to reflect it.
I have called this by many names over the years, but the underlying truth has never changed.
No matter what we call this invisible force, something wonderful is moving through us at all times, just as it moves through every atom in nature. It is creating, restoring, producing, and bursting forth with life. Human emotion can cloud it out for a time, but it never disappears. It remains steady while we fluctuate.
Fear, frustration, worry, self-righteousness, jealousy, aggression, and self-doubt can all blind us to our true nature and our limitless capacity to love. But they cannot change what is already true.
The quiet of the morning has a way of reminding me.
It clears away the noise just enough for me to recognize that strength again. And when I do, I begin the day a little steadier, lighter, and more awake to the invincible summer that was there all along. ๐
Have a VERY good day.

FIGHT FOR YOURSELF โ ALWAYS
Half the year's gone already! ๐ฏ
I've enjoyed tracking my physical activity over the past 4ยฝ years. It keeps me motivated to take care of my health as the years pass. Before the autumn of 2021, I wasn't physically active at all (except for a period in the mid-1990s when I rode my bike quite a bit). So I made a firm commitment to get active - and stay that way FOR GOOD.
So far this year, I've walked 681.4 km (an average of 113 km per month).
That's down from 124 km per month in 2025 and 126 km in 2024. April was the culprit. I averaged only 71 km after needing two back injections and spending about six days off physical activity under doctor's orders.
None of us knows how long we'll live or what life has in store. I simply want to do my part, as best I can, to protect my health as I grow older. (I've still got room for improvement. ๐)
I still have days when it feels like a bit of a pointless trek uphill, especially since my height has shrunk from 4'11" to 4'9" over the past six years. (LOL) But after a lifetime of battling weight issues and living mostly inactive, I've made myself a promise: whatever I can do to strengthen my body and reduce my health risks, I'll do it.
If you've ever lived through your darkest days or your heaviest nights (for whatever reason) you know what it means to fight against your own odds.
So keep fighting for yourself because you're worth fighting for. ๐

There are many lessons we learn in life, especially if we are observant. One of the greatest for me was discovering that what's most important is not when my First Grade teacher writes on my report card, "Verna is an 'A' student," and being told it was "really good" to get a report like that.
The essence of my whole existence is more about listening to a beautiful person tell me about a vulnerable moment he had recently - of being wrongly accused of something at work and being told to "go home for the day." Then seeing his face light up in a big, appreciative smile just because someone listened.
Few other things could've made me choose to let the bus go by and take a brisk and buoyant 60-minute walk home instead.

PURPOSEFULLY BROKEN
"A workhorse can be of little use to itself or its owner until it is broken in," he told me.
I disliked that metaphor, but the wisdom behind it can be applied to our own lives. In the context of taming and training a horse for usefulness, brokenness takes on a deeper and less harsh meaning. We can also see it as part of the fire of refinement.
If we do not direct our own actions toward the necessary work and effort that ultimately pays us back in life, we are like undisciplined children or wild horses, running freely toward cliffs and dangers that can lead us to our own ruin.
Personal growth is ๐ฉ๐ข๐ณ๐ฅ ๐ธ๐ฐ๐ณ๐ฌ, ๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ข๐ณ๐ต ๐ธ๐ฐ๐ณ๐ฌ, and ๐ข๐ณ๐ต๐ธ๐ฐ๐ณ๐ฌ - all three facets working together to shape us into the best versions of ourselves we were born to be.
